Ok so I have been interested in Pickpocketing for years but I have just recently began to practice it. Now the one thing I am trying to work on is being much more physical with my magic, touching people on the shoulder, moving them over etc, because that is a key part of pickpocketing. Today I happened to be at Downtown Disney and the stores were PACKED because it was freezing outside (40 degrees in Orlando). Now normally I am to slip through crowds rather quickly without ever stopping or bumping people along the way. Today I decided that instead of doing that, I would try and casually bump into people as I was walking around the store. Now I wasn't tackling anyone, however I made it a point to brush by people while in the store. It was really interesting seeing how people barely reacted at all.

I think it really depends on the social culture in which you practice pickpocketing.
Americans are renowned in England for their friendly nature and hospitality, therefore i think that they wouldn't object to a perceived accidental bump. In England however its a different story, people abhor being touched and immediately get suspicious if someone dares enter their personal space.

Well, try not to pickpocket the wrong people, that would most likely end in the hospital.

uhm.....NO.
Friendly and hospitable...maybe(depending on where you are from) but personal space? I find it the exact opposite. I find folks from England are much closer talkers than most Americans. And even that is suspect since most of my experience is with Londoners. Urban people tend to have smaller "territorial bubbles" than rural people and since England has a higher percentage people in urban areas there you go.

Does not matter if you TELL THEM you're a pickpocket. It gives great reactions to:

Hey, I'm Daniel, magician and pickpocket....
*takes watch while shaking hands*
they: Hmm, you're not going to take anything are ya'?
*checks pockets*
Me: Nah, by the way do you believe in time travel?
They: What do you mean?
Me: *shows their watch around his hand* - time travelled from your arm to mine.
