Your review was pretty good as an overview. I'd like to see a break-down of each of the effects and your impression of them along with your opinion of the teaching of it.
As to my thoughts on this disc, I thought it was quite good...and as a free download with my order I certainly can't complain at all. In fact, of the 12 effects on this disc I have already incorporated 2 of them into some of my short routines. They're certainly not for everyone, but if a person were interested in learning magic I wouldn't feel bad at all in recommending this disc to them. Are there better resources out there for beginners? Sure, but with a little time spent learning the techniques here a beginner can definitely start building a good foundation in magic...and that's the whole point of the disc.
A thought books versus DVDs:
I'm still a beginner in magic (less than a year experience) and have an assortment of books and DVDs. You get more information for your money from a book, but they can be hard to prop open and read while working on something. DVDs typically have fewer effects, but as the old adage goes "a picture is worth a thousand words." I personally like using a mixture of both in order to learn from, and I find is most helpful when I can find an overlap. For example, I have Mysterio's Encyclopedia of Magic and conjuring, and just COULD NOT get the Down's Palm figured out from the text and illustrations. However, once I saw it on a video it took me a few seconds to get it right. Find what works for you to learn do it that way!
