Hardcore by Jay Sankey

Price: $35.00

I gotta say I was a little disappointed by this one. The DVD quality is great, and so is Jay's teaching, but the actual tricks are not that hard hitting. They are more for performing for family and friends when you are bored. Don't get me wrong, they are decent tricks, but never in a million years would I take most of these out on the streets in stead of my sponge balls. Also, the gimmicks that the site says it comes with are not that good. Paper and rubber bands. That is it. You could go out and get this stuff yourself. It is, however, nice that it did come with =)

Climber

Difficulty 1/10
Effect 6/10
Reactions 6/10

Finish a soda and defy gravity. Pinch off a little bit of soda at the bottom of the cup/can/bottle, and watch as you shake the straw and the liquid rises up it!

Border Crossing

Difficulty 3/10
Effect 5/10
Reactions 4/10

Take out a sealed envelope with a golfing postcard inside. Discard the envelope, and produce a golf ball from the middle of the postcard!

Wrapture

Difficulty 4/10
Effect 7/10
Reactions 6/10

Take a quarter and a penny, and melt one right over the other! Looks great! Can be given away as an awesome souvenir.

Exit Strategy

Difficulty 4/10
Effect 5/10
Reactions 3/10

Take two ordinary straws and wrap them around each other. Get a spectator to hold where they intersect and you pull them apart. Both straws are completely unbroken! You then borrow a ring and slide it over both straws. Get a spectator to hold the ends as you pull the ring right through the straws.

Fishbowl

Difficulty 7/10
Effect 8/10
Reactions 8/10

Get a spectator to choose any card at random. You then shuffle the cards and while in your hands you seal them in a plastic ziplock bag. You place your other hand on top of the deck, and the spectator then places their hands over yours. Lifting your hands off, one card, the spectators has melted through the bag.

Heist

Difficulty 5/10
Effect 7/10
Reactions 7/10

A soda can tab switches places with a dime placed inside the can.

Spiral

Difficulty 4/10
Effect 8/10
Reactions 7/10

Have a ripped bill switch places with a piece of notebook paper.

Evidence

Difficulty 5/10
Effect 3/10
Reactions 2/10

Take a brand new deck of cards. Rip the tabs off. Shuffle the deck. Place the cards back in the box and everything is instantly restored to the way it was. The tabs are back, and the cards are again in factory order.

Entranced

Difficulty 4/10
Effect 6/10
Reactions 4/10

Take a card and rip off a corner. Push it into a brand new pack of tic tacs. Matches up completely!

Babylon Band

Difficulty 2/10
Effect 3/10
Reactions 2/10

A rubber band "magically" names the spectator's card!

The Main Attraction

Difficulty 6/10
Effect 6/10
Reactions 5/10

A visual torn and restored trick with a signed card.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the DVD is good for the price, but I would look at getting something else. I will give the entire thing 3 stars out of 5. Good for close friends and family, but nothing else.

Have to agree. I am a big fan of Jay but this DVD is a shocker. Almost embarrassing, the tricks are beginner standard.

Dave and I review this on this weeks WPR.

It was a long DVD to watch and I think a lot of you will find the review interesting.

(Jay however will probably not be happy with what we have to say)

YES!!! I've been wanting WPR to review this for such a long time! Jay needs to start thinking more about the magic he puts out. I mean, look how easy a Sankey effect can be back-tracked (especially on the new Bending the Real dvd), compared to the impenetrable mysteries that Juan Tamariz creates. Some of Sankey's old stuff was very good, but now he just invests in marketing his average products toward beginners. But anyway...

Craig, I would also love for the WPR to review Bending the Real and REF4M.
