I am 15 and I am a very interested in pickpocketing. I am geting better at the watch steal, but I find it hard to take things from peoples pockets. I feel as though they are going to feel it. Any tips on getting over this or Easter way to take from pockets?

Just curious, but any specific reason you're interested in pickpocketing?

When I was little my great grandfather was a very good magiction he even preformed around the city* on the street that is but I loved it from the time I saw him doing it to now and pickpocketing isn't the only thing I am interested in I am also pretty good at slieght of hand stuff and also card and money magic but I fell in love with pickpocketing magic cause of the danger yet shock excitment and aplause from people watching some thing the man or woman was wearing carrying ect appear in my Hand or pocket

Wow, I know this is late, but that reason is admirable. Exodus, not everyone who pickpockets does it for bad reasons, no matter how young.

I have been doing it recently a LOT and I encountered the same fear you have. The best thing to do is to tell a lot of friends that you are going to try to pickpocket them. Then, during the course of the day, attempt it. This establishes two things...

1) It tells them that you are going to do it beforehand, so if you succeed, then it is even more impressive.
2) If you fail, you already told them you were going to try, so it doesn't come off as odd.

That is the only way to get good at pickpocketing is to practice; just remember to always return the stuff.

All the best,
Chris

I know that not everyone that wants to do it is doing it for bad reasons. There's a big difference with theatrical pickpocketing and street pickpocketing. I'm working on learning both styles for my own act. My only reason for asking is because young people doing pickpocketing isn't really common. I'm curious as to what caused that to come up.

His original question was posted over six months ago. Either he found his answer or he lost interest. If you have something on this topic to share with the rest of us, feel free to do so.

I'm a young people, and I'm actually very interested in learning how to pickpocket. i don't know anything yet, but I'm hoping to learn sometime. the magic possibilities are endless! you could take your ring and make it into a spectators ring, you could ask an audience to all look down at their finger ring, and as they do so, see if it matches the description needed for the trick. then the person whose ring you borrowed would most likely start to panic as they've lost their ring, then you can return it to them in a number of different fashions. and another idea Ive had is to do a pass where your half dollar turns into their wallet! the possibilities are endless!
