HOLY LORD! That was hands down the scariest movie I've EVER seen. Usually in scary movies something pops out once or twice and scares the bejeezus out of you, but this movie was consistently high in tension and anticipation. Plus it was LOADED with lots of little subtle suggestions and hidden hints about the movie.

I saw this last night with a friend and these 2 girls, sort of like a double date, and I don't think there was anyone in the movie NOT screaming. This is probably the perfect movie to see with a girl, but even then it's hard not to act scared haha. I definitely recommend it for any serious horror film fanatic (besides the cheesy @$$ acting and editing[ other than a few special effects, it was probably made on a really low budget])

Over and out

So... did things pop out constantly through out the movie?

I wanna see it! Patrick Wilson is a good actor.
Also, I'm a big horror buff.

Well yes and no. It's the kind of movie you sort of know when something is going to pop out so you expect it a little bit, but then there were more times when you didn't know and it scared you. It wasn't really about that though. More of an abrupt "appearance" kind of movie.

I really liked it, it was honestly the first good horror movie I've seen in theaters that wasn't some paranormal activity handycam stuff in a while. I highly recomend this movie.

+1

It was actually not very scary towards the end. I think because the key images and feelings were so overused (like full 10 second shots showing the scary people). But by the end of the movie, as scared as I was from the earlier parts, I was able to keep my eyes open ;)

Just watched it. The first half was actually shot and directed very well. The 2nd half was dumb and not scary at all.

They showed "it"; once you show the source of the scariness... its not scary anymore. Honestly I can pinpoint the exact moment the movie went from being good to crap; when the dad is literately fighting hand to hand with a demon and pushes him and makes him fly in the air.

The creepiest part for me was definitely the scene where she hears talking in the baby monitor, then when she goes upstairs and you see the guy standing. Creepy.

To answer the question i asked earlier: Yes this is pretty much a typical pop out scary movie, except the pop outs aren't over the top. Just subtle pop out moments. For example, its not a face popping out screaming at you... its a guy standing behind someone or a face behind someone. They still use the mechanic of the initial shock of seeing something unexpected and supporting it with a noise to scare you.

Therefor: this is a scary movie, not a horror movie. Fart on this. Its grouped up with all the other modern "horror" movies.
