I watched a video of one of my favorite comedians, and if you've spent more then a few seconds out from under a rock I'm sure you've heard of him. Bo Burnham, now i know what you're thinking "What does he have to do with magic?". Well, he doesn't. But bare with me.

Bo is a talented artist, but the reason I like him is because of his intelligence. His lyrics are some of the most clever pieces of poetry you will ever read. And with the release of his new album "Words Words Words", a song caught my eye. Which brings me back to this video i watched;

Please watch it, and actually listen to what he is saying.

Now, if you actually heard and understood what he is saying, it will have hopefully affected you as much as it has me. I plan on writing an essay on the topic of being an artist. Now I don't wont this essay to be only from my perspective. So please, if you have input on the topic, let me hear it.

Thank you for listening,
But i'm just a kid,
And maybe i'll grow out of it.

First off, Bo Burnham is a great comedian; He has a unique style.
Second, it is indeed an interesting topic. Are you going to include what Bo is trying to say, namely 'Art is dead and artist are just attention craving, kids?' If so I may have something interesting for you.

So there is this guy who I sometimes see at parties. Now this fellow appears as a normal fellow, but he is rather odd. Now nothing wrong with that, but he is odd not in a creative way, but in a awkward, anti-social way and REALLY tries to appear as an 'complex artist/musician.' He is a one man band, mainly because he can't get anyone to join his band, and yes he has tried. He makes 90's synthesizer music ( think Depeche Mode only really terrible.) and he is just plain awful. I have a broad music taste and I do recognize talent, yet he has none.
He, on the other hand, is convinced he can make a breakthrough in the music business. He has been denied for 'music school' and now wants to try it on his own claiming that 'that is the only way to achieve something [,man].
He is a complete and utter idiot.
Now all good and kind, I'll let him have his false hope if he truly wants it, and who am I to burst his bubble. But he is incredibly annoying, he has to remind everyone around him, 24/7, that he believes he is an artist.
He'll say stuff like:
' You know what I really feel like? Sitting in the street.' ( In the middle of a party)
'I hate all pop music.' ( really dude? ALL pop music? Ever?)
' *SuperHipsterBandWhichEvenHipstersAgreeAboutIsTerrible* is awesome ' ( He will say this, mid-conversation, of which he isn't even a part of, where the band name only briefly comes to play.)
' Yeah, I'm thinking of bringing out a second album, there's this guy in Norway who is really looking forward to it.' ( He has one subscriber who only out of pity - AHUM- politeness, responds to his videos.

He is exactly the type which Bo describes in [the beginning of] the song; somebody who tries to be complicated but just isn't.

Art.
is.
Dead.

Sorta.
