Just wondering if anyone watched Derren's latest special? It's an expose' on faith healers and their tricks. In it he trains up a nobody and sends him out to perform miracles. Seriously the entire faith healig movement sickens me, maybe more than the mediums do.

I just saw it....great show. I'm afraid it will likely fall into the category of "preaching to the choir," because most people who really believe in that stuff won't bother to watch it. Oh well...Most of the real charlatans have wrapped themselves in the blanket of "religious freedom" so the efforts of Dawkins, Brown, Randi, Penn, Teller, and other skeptics likely be negligible.

Derren is one of my favourite performers. Th is a great show (just watched it) but i must say it is a pretty easy challenge. Not hard to expose how fraudulant these twits are, but he did it with class as usual.

It's just such a shame that such an obvious sham has such a massive following. One thing I liked about the show was it showed there were rebel cells amongst the faithful and does show that there are plenty of religious people with common sense and enough objectivity to see it for what it is.

Lets face it, there's no way you can truely believe in God, the Devil and an afterlife and go on to so shamelessly scam people like that.

What I actually meant was this... if you believe in God and the bible then you believe in heaven and edited. You also believe that God is all seeing and all knowing and will know and judge you for your sins.
So how can someone who truly believes in God be a faith healer and use both the lords name as well as tricks to convince people they're performing miracles and then convince them to pay hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars to have their prayers answered knowing full well that it's not true? If you had any faith at all you would know that you would be damed for such a horrific sin and would never even dream about doing it.

Who says these "faith healers" believe in God?

I believe they are simply preying on the weaknesses of those who do believe for monetary gains. Apparently they don't believe in he11 either or they'd know they would be first in line to be let in.

They may also be sociopaths. Sociopaths can find a way to rationalize anything that they find profitable, even if they believe in a god. Usually, they'll pick and choose verses that seem to support what they're doing, and they may even forfeit some of their money to eliminate the guilt. (It's ok if I'm making millions, I'm tithing to a charity.)
