I have noticed a lot of creative and OOB thinking comming out of France in the last few years(I'm sure they always had it but I've only been introduced to it recently). Anyways I was just curious who among the French you guys have really enjoyed? Personally I think Mathew Bich has some really cool ideas, if not always practical, but still very clever. What have you guys found? I'm particularly interested in some names that are still a bit under the North American radar. Most of us know of Bich and Stone, who else?

When I was in France 10 years ago I saw a magic show at a small theater in Paris staring Arturo Bruchetti. It was amazing. Fabulous and entertaining show revolving around quick changes and I mean quick.

I just like them all because of their sweet/incredibly-hard-to-understand accent!

David Stone anyone?

Yes he is. In the teaching videos I've seen he speaks only French and either has someone translate or the video is subtitled.

(Obviously) Not a recent magician, but Jean Eugene Robert Houdin is always a classic.

I agree with you drewer Houdin was the beginning of modern day magic as we know it. He was the man Houdini named himself after. He started out as a watch repairman and used his talents there to build automatons (Robots) and other things as well. He spent a long time creating his first Show, He bombed. But he didn't give up. He came back bigger and better and the legend began. So I totally agree He was one of the greatest. and the most interesting thing is one of the tricks you do just might be from an original Idea he had and has evolved into the one you now do, You just never know.
