For anyone unaware thousands of people have been marching on Wall Street for over 2 weeks. Their have been several cases of excessive force by the police and the national new coverage has been very poor. Here are a couple sites with information.

I just want to make sure people are aware of this.

The basic premis these people say is "1% of the people control the wealth." Be nice if it were true. They are just too lazy to get off their butts and work for a living. I've been poor, I know what it feels like so I went out and started my own company and got rid of the situation. I'll never be like Bill gates but I'm comfortable and happy. Each and every one of us can do the same.

I'm thinking that your not understanding what there going for Paddy, It's not about redistributing wealth, I think it has more to do with the revelation of the lending practices of the Fed that were made public in April, there are also strong anti-war and anti-bail out motives. The thing is that it currently it is a varied group but the amount of national and international support this is getting indicates that it is more than just a bunch of lazy poor people.

Here is something a little bit more accurate. You can see the stats aren't universally agreed upon, but the numbers paint an ugly picture and is generally in-line with OWS's claims.

Claiming these people are lazy is an assumption. I also have worked hard from being out of work and poor to being able to support myself and my sister as she tries to get a job in this economy, which is proving difficult for her.

OWS's message is not unified. It seems like a bunch of angry people who seem to largely fit a demographic of younger out of work individuals. No matter how you slice it, people are upset at the state of the country.

A bunch of socialists and self proclaimed communists.....heard interviews from a similar group today who are in Sacramento....they couldn't even say why they were doing what they were doing....said a committee was putting together a list of "reasons" that would be released tomorrow.......

Let them work for a living - oh, some of them ARE BEING PAID TO BE THERE......I second the lazy statement, hands out for "free" gov't money, stolen from those of us who work......also, supporting the very gov't officials and party which gave the same bankers bail-outs, both above and below the table......

Alot of them would work, if they could. A majority of them are kids who just finished colege. What a way to enter the world. And the communism claim as baseless. I want an article, something factual other than what Fox and Friends may have spun what "THEY" though/felt about the movement. Honestly, this group just seems like the Tea Party, only reversed. They are two extreme answers to what I think alot of people are thinking. That the country is on the wrong track and needs change.

What's interesting that I see about the two views is two extreme attitudes. While one seems more progressive policy and focused on punishing those responsible for the mess (Which in my opinion you need to look further back for whome to blame); the other wants to roll back the time and regulations to some golden era of prosperity.

One thing is for sure, without a unified message this OWS group will fizzle into nothing. Hopefully it does, because anymore hardline extreme views in our govt is going to lead to the same train wreck politics we are seeing.

I think that's one of the reasons for the protests. It all boils down to:

1) Corporate influence is too high in government
2) Counterbalance the Tea Party protests.

The reason it seems like noone knows exactly what it's all for is because they represent several different perspectives, with point 1 being the common ground. Because you have so many ideologies, their message doesn't appear to be unified as was already mentioned.

It was "protesters" themselves who said (I heard them), that they were Marxist-communists.....sooooooooo, I shouldn't believe it because they said it???????

There are jobs out there, most of these folks just won't "degrade" themselves enough to go do "those" jobs.....no pride in self......no survivor instinct.....10K yrs ago these same people would have been left along the trail by their clan for having NO redeeming qualities to ensure the clan survival........

I also HEARD the interview re: the ones that had NO IDEA why the protest in Sacramento was even going on......

Re: the corporate welfare, these people are supporting the very people in gov't who issued the BIGGEST corporate welfare checks (read stimulus) in our history.......

Protest one thing but support the beast that causes the thing protested......ignorance or idiocy, you choose........

Re: college grads, some of you may want to use a bit of spellcheck, just to show you MIGHT be a college grad yourself.......

You may want to learn how to use punctuation, capitalization, and paragraph form before critiquing others writing. Also, your historical dating is a bit off and your just claiming that because they have opinions than you do that they are ignorant or idiots, with out providing any evidence that you are correct. Please tone down the inflammatory stuff and try to have an adult dialog.

This needed to be said. Personally, I often ignore it when people post like that, but in this case he needed a bit of a reminder. At least in the off topic section of this forum, people need to post a little more respectfully and with proof if they're going to state "facts". Just my opinion though.

The fact is I listened to the two interviews I mentioned. Also that certain members of the protest were being paid by their unions to attend. Those are the facts.

Also, to protest "bankers" and yet worship at the feet of the great socialist Barry, who arranged the payoffs, is hypocritical.

Plus, too many people figure they're "owed" a living and if they can't do it on their own they have no problem asking the gov't to steal from one group to give to another.

Those ARE the facts.....

I'm ready for the upcoming gunfight, are you? We won't get our Constitution of the United States back, or our liberties granted by a higher power without blood being shed.

It is going to take a lot more pain felt by the citizens before they take real action to ensure the same thieves they elect to office are eliminated from office. That means the poor will have to lose the cellphones, gameboys, wide screen tv, vehicle, etc... before enough pain has been felt.

The average American living below the arificially inflated "poverty level" line has more material possessions and lives a higher lifestyle than the average (overall, not those below the European "poverty level") European. The poor here are MOSTLY not poor, they're just told they are, have been convinced they are, and support the socialists who convince them while eliminating liberty.

Liberty means increased personal responsibility, taking responsibility for your own actions / decisions, and sucking it up to press on when you make errors in same. Liberty is NOT expecting others to take up your slack when you screw up, or when life screws you. It's NOT asking gov't to FORCE others to do the same.

You either want your personal liberties or you want life decisions made for you. Your choice, just don't include gov't authorized theft as part of your "safety net". What I earn are the fruits of MY labor and NOBODY has an "entitlement" to them. Supporting the socialists in charge (both D's and R's) supports theft of MY property / earnings to give to others and makes those supporters my enemies.....

Believe me, I choose my battles wisely, and I stated facts about the b.s. OWS social gatherings for those looking for their way in life.
