I have taken to using lots of holdouts for various tricks. Gives me more pocket space and I have the option to do more productions without having to sneak my hand into my pocket between tricks.

In Jay Sankey's DVD "Front Row Sankey", He has an effect called "Not This Card!", which is a variation of Chicago opener/red hot mama. He suggest storing the odd backed card in his sock!!!! clearing up pocket space. This of course goes well with the patter of this trick though, so it might not work for everything but its a great idea.

Cell phone holsters are excellent for freeing up pocket space. Added foam helps items to fit snug if desired and the cover flap may be removed for EZ'r retrieval. I can't say enough about them. They are inexpensive and you could wear more than one. Many of the flaps on them secure by flat magnets which work as a card holdout or may be removed and used for other magical purposes. Wear them horizontally and even upside-down.

It really depends on what type of performer you are but normally, I'd say if you're doing walk around and you can't fit everything you'll be doing in your pockets, you're probably carrying too much. I keep a case at each of my gigs and keep spare decks, extra gaffs, etc. On my person, however, I try to fit everything in my jacket's pockets. Maybe if you've got bigger items than would normally fit in a pocket, I can see carrying it outside the pockets. Other thoughts on this?

Example to play with, change around, etc...

Jeans and button down shirt not tucked in
Car keys, Freakey, or Florida Keys :-P in one front pocket, coins in the other
Wallet in rear pocket
Two cell phone cases, two decks of cards, card gaffs, packet tricks
Sharpies, pen effects may also clip on to cell phone case
(Decks may be in their boxes or not)

Tuck in the shirt and add a sport coat
Sponge balls, TT, mentalist pad

All of this isn't really carrying too much stuff and the arrangement is comfortable.

You crack me up EZ! Only guy to mention a mentalist pad and a sponge ball in the same get up!

BTW...I started using your cell phone holders. They are great! I had to find something to put my Industrial Revelation on my belt and out of my pants! Da*n thing is so heavy it was pulling my pants off!

Check out the Pro Carrier by Joshua Jay: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1422

A fellow Penguin suggested it to me when I was complaining about inadvertantly spending my gaffed coins.

They attach to your belt. If you purchased two of these and wore one on each hip, you should be all set.

I also wear a sports jacket for the extra pocket space.

I have been eyeing the pro carrier for a while. Maybe I should bite the bullet.

LOL. Just don't wear that into the bank to make your deposits. How can you resist the bargain price of $300 (marked down from $400!)?

This is a good bit bigger than the Pro Carrier mentioned earlier - but has the added advantage of being in stock. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S13366 This looks like it is made for tactical gear. Actually I have seen the exact thing on tac sites for twice the Penguin price. About 1/4 the size of a messenger bag? It is geeky looking but very functional. I use it and really like it. I use different colored metal card clips so I know which deck is which - if I am carrying gaffed decks. Plenty of room for cups, cards, rope, wand, well you can easily load it with too much if you want!

This is also quit an old thread but seems to be making a comeback :D

YES, mentalism and sponge balls/bunnies are two great ways to go when magicising (magi-sizing) the ladies. ;-)

Great use of a cell phone holder for Industrial Revelation they are excellent for carrying certain effects that require set up. You can get the holders cheap or pay a bit more for nicer ones. Wear two of them and keep a gaffed deck separate from a regular deck for EZ switching. I like them for keeping front pockets free of props for when using those pockets during routines or keeping regularly carried items such as a cell phone and keys separate.
