I would prefer something that is hard hitting and extremely powerful and visual. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not recommend Panic or Machine by Aaron Fisher, for I dislike both of them (probably the only magician alive who thinks that, but I have my reasons) Thank you for your help!

You did not say what type of effects you like - cards, coins, levitation... One of my favorite card tricks of the year is Horse of a Different Color by David Johnson. Only $20 and is really a cool card trick.

I love card magic and some tricks that have to do with money. Like Cinch was one of my favorite tricks. Also the DVD set KAPOW is one of my favorite set of dvd's that aren't just a one trick DVD.

Extreme Burn or Extreme Burn 2.0! This is the best $34.95 you'll ever spend in magic!

I get the best reactions from a simple, cheap, Haunted Key from Fun Incorporated. I hand it to people, and tell them to hold it, twist it, press it, pull it, etc, and be sure that there are no strings, buttons, springs, or such. Then I have them press it to the side of something metal-a fridge, file cabinet, or such-and let it go. When it falls, I point out that it is not magnetic. Then, I ask them to pick it up, and place it in my open palm. I then proceed, or make needed adjustments to the placement before I proceed. Then, I tell the people to watch my hand closely, as I concentrate on the key in my left hand, and gesture 'magically' with my right hand.

I show strain on my face, and let my eyes bulge a bit.. They see no tipping, or tilting, or such of my hand...but the key rolls over. It spooks people. I can repeat endlessly, if I choose to, and no one catches on. An imperceptively minute rolling of my elbow, or a miniscule lifting of my thumb, goes un-noticed. The Haunted Key sells for between $3.95 and $10.95, depending upon where you get it, and when. It takes some experimentation to get the best placement for your hand, as the muscles, and tendons-of the palm, and fingers, which differ somewhat from hand to hand-play a more important part in the effect than does gravity, or such...at least such is so in the way that I do it. I have used the Haunted Key on: drunken partiers, sober police officers, mystically inclined women, imaginative children, and others, and it never fails to mystify...because my palm remains so level, and motionless. The trick is cheap, it is always ready, it is instantly useable with no real set up-apart from the placing of it in your hand-it works well (if you practice sufficiently), it obviously is not gimmicked in any of the classical manners (wires, magnets, etc), and non-magicians can't figure out how it is done. Some who see it become afraid. Others become worhipful fans of their new mystical guru. Others become determined to figure it out...but fail.

You can't go wrong with Fiber Optics extended by Richard Sanders. Amazing effect. I get huge responses from the audience with it. Also, try David Stone's tool.

Both tricks are extremely easy. You pretty much need no skill for tool.

Hi! Well, there are lots of great effects. To me a great effect is a strong trick I can pull out instantly. Here you go:

Extreme burn 2.0 by Richard Sanders. just BLOWS PEOPLE AWAY. Trust me, this is THE thing I do on an impromptu situation.

Identity by Richard Sanders. THE card effect for a special audience I KNOW I want to blow away. Btw the gimmick is a card you already have, do not expect a gimmick to do everything. It is not even needed, its all sleight of hand :D

Spider Pen Pro: I always have my Spider pen in my jacket pocket. Not neccecarely for levitations. Haunted packs, rising cards etc. It is over 40 bucks but if you ever consider buying it, DO.

Invisible deck

Loops

Flash by Chad Long.

a couple of quotes from the big names in magic:
"There are no good or bad tricks. There are only well and badly presented tricks."
Raynaly (A French magician)

"Those who think that magic consists of doing tricks are strangers to magic. Tricks are only the crude residue from which the lifeblood of magic has been drained."
- S.H. Sharpe

"Magic is not tricks; it is a way."
Tenkai Ishida

Get the point?
