I need a magnet and steel plate replacement for the Devlin Dollar gimmick.
K&J Magnetics has many types of magnets of all sizes but I can't find small steel plates.
Any idea where to look?

not familiar with this gimmick, but I have used Xacto blades and double edge blades when I need a plate for card decks.

Gillette steel razor blades. They're super thin and are used to shim cards by lots of magicians. Almost nobody in their right mind uses these blades anymore except grandad who won't get with the program and buy the prefab razors. You can still buy them everywhere.

I am not familiar with the Devlin Dollar though. So I don't know if a blade would for it or not.

But I had never thought of using razor blades as shims. Sounds like a pretty good idea. And I just happen to shave with them - I had to downgrade to razors when my seizures got too bad to continue with my straight razor...

One of my favorite tricks to do with a shimmed card is to make it rise out of the CENTER of a pack of cards using a strong PK magnet strapped to my wrist.

Speaking of those strong PK magnets, the original one fit perfectly into a pack of cigarettes (box). I used to lay it between the paddles of a pinball machine and play the same ball for quite some time. The magnet would stop the ball in its tracks. That $40 magnet more than paid for itself.
