So I am thinking of getting into birthday shows for kids ages 5 to 10. Here is a list of tricks I am planning to include in the show (Listed in order of performance):
1.) 6" Crystal Clear Cube w/ Change bag
2.) Hoppin Spots
3.) Spongeballs (does anyone have any good spongeball routine?)
4.) Food to Go w/ disappearing coke bottle
5.) Fiber Optics
6.) Strat-O-Sphere
7.)Find the Queen Stage Size

What do you think of this show. How long do you expect it to take. I am thinking of buying the Palmo Gimmick and making a banner that says Happy Birthday appear. Or/and I could include it in the beginning of the show.

I was also wondering what a reasonable price to charge for a show like this in a high end neighborhood.

Thanks!

It's a long show, good 90 minutes there. Cut it to a max of 4 effects. REMEMBER the show is ENTERTAINMENT not tricks, so you have to fill with patter. We all forget that patter is more than just the fill in ramblings and stories. It is when we make friends with the audience, get them to laugh, get the kids on your side. If you don't do that, you're toast.

I know, I have had my butt toasted when I first started doing kids shows. Believe me the kids are one heck of a hard audience and will tell you, everybody they know and the world if you screw up. Years ago I did a party and was just feeling crummy. I dropped a gimmick just was off. Took me 8 months to build my business up again. There were 2 or 3 neighbourhoods that the kids lived in and they spread the word that I was bad. I did recover, but it was hard.

Thanks for the advice on the routine. What do you think about this show:
1.) Crystal clear cube w/ change bag
2.) Spongeballs
3.) Food to Go
4.) Strat-O-Sphere
5.)Hopping spots

Then after I get this show down, maybe I can offer three shows, this one, basic, another one, with two more tricks(more audience participation), and a third one, the show with nine effects. What do you think?

Thanks!

Just listing some tricks makes it difficult to tell if it is a good show or not.

As for making multiple shows, I would say definitely, EVENTUALLY! Kid shows are tough, it will take a while for you to get one solid show. Then keep working on it over and over and over. Keep improving it. Much later start making the next show. It will take a while to get there though.
