I heard a radio interview with Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller. Clearly a Blaine-hater. What generally are the perspectives of top magicians (burton, Copperfield, etc.) on Blaine? And what are his perspectives of them? Just curious

I find it funny how everyone trashed blaine SO much. Yeah LOTS of the stuff he does is REALLY easy, like quarter bite or 2 card monte...but he made them famous! The only reason I LEARNED 2 card monte was cos i saw HIM do it! Everyone is just totally jealous because he took the great but basic tricks, and got famous first. Hes good, not GREAT with cards and stuff like people think he is - we can all do his ambitious card, 2 card monte, 1 card monte, etc - but the fact of the matter is: he took it to TV first.

Yep...I guess every profession, craft or hobby has immature people who have to pick on something or someone. In this case, what the edited, might as well pick on Blaine...:>)

penn jilette was like "he's only famous because he's handsome and has charisma". uh yeah, and what's wrong with that. 80% of magic is presentation not technical skill.

A lot of other magicians especially street magicians don't like david blaine because if you do a street show, you really should be dependant on yourself and maybe one other person that ISN'T part of the film crew. That is really sad when you have to depend on a guy that nobody would suspect just because he has a camera
