I was just curious if any of you have symptoms of seasonal depression.

Honestly I get irritated easier, feel more tired, more apathy, boredom, and just plain crappy during the winter.

I need to move to a tropical island.

I don't know if it's depression or what, but i have been EXTREMELY tired for the last two months, ever since the first major snow. It's very weird, i've never felt like this before. I go to bed at 9 every school night, and still at around 4 or 5 pm the next day i begin to feel the same fatigue. I think i might have it. Are your symptoms similiar?

It's called puberty lad it's part of growing up

i've had a few friends that had that same problem.... they moved away because of it

you now, i wonder if humans have some sorta body sensor that tells it to sleep in the winter (kinda like some animals do)... or maybe put on alot of weight for preperation of cold weather.... just a thought

I kinda feel more energetic during winter...maybe its because of the holidays and presents and things like that.

I hope I hurry and get out of puberty. I am 30, and ready to rid myself of the malaise, and apathetic attitudes of winter.

ID, I know what you are going thru. It happens to me sometimes too during the winter. Especially if it gets cloudy for a few days in a row. I am a regular grouch and have apathy towards everything. But once the sun comes back out, I tend to perk back up.

You might want to go to the WebMD website and type in Seasonal Affected Depression (I am pretty sure that is the proper name for it). The acronym for it is S.A.D.

It's Seasonal Affection Disorder. My sister has it. Otherwise known as the "Winter Blues". It's beleived that suicide rate goes up around Christmas time not because of the Christmas season, but because of less natural sunlight.

A larger percentage of the populations in the far north and south are affected by SAD than in geographic locations closer to the equator.

You can feel better with anti-depressants, or by buying special lights which give the same seratonin production help that natural sunlight gives off.

Wayno is correct. I used to work at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio ( Dept. Ob/Gyn, Endocrinology & Human Reproduction ). We had a Dr. Reit who is world renowned for his research on light waves and their ability to change affect . It appears different wavelengths and duration of those spectrums do change many individual's emotional well-being. And knowing this we can manipulate light to help bring a negatively effected person back to health . I'm probably talking too much so if you're interested use Google...
