Just wanted to give a little post here about our budget in America. I heard a report last night that in after the President passes his next bill for the space program next week, our budget will have the largest deficit in the history of America. What a difference four years makes. The economy has gone down, stock market is down from four years ago, the budget is no longer balanced, and my employer is laying me off today due to the economy (12 others also). I want to know where all the jobs are that they keep touting on the news, and in the press.
The funny thing, in my opinion, is we were told in the campaigns of 2000 that Busch would revitalize the economy, increase jobs, reform healthcare, and privatize social security. Well, here we are, the economy is crap, they say the jobs are increasing, but the unemployment numbers are only being measured by first time users of unemployment,(which means since I drew from unemployment in 1993, I will not be shown in the unemployment numbers), health insurance is ninety dollars a week for me, and it is crap insurance, But on the bright side, it looks like we will have some say so on our social security, even if it is only 20% of it.
I'm not trying to sound all political, because I do not know who I am voting for, I am just complaining right now, in an open forum. I hope none of you guys have this situation come upon you. If I remember correctly, I think fcchief was recently layed off, and that is unfortunate.
There is a bright side though, I get to break out the resume, and go meet possible future employers, if I can find any hiring right now. Interviews are actually pretty fun to me, if a company doesn't seem too interesting, you can always get leads for others. I might even pull some magic in an interview, just to see what happens

Anyway, I'll stop my moaning. Hopefully you guys can stay away from the pangs of the economy. Thanks for reading my ramble.

I don't think much of Lou Dobbs on Cnn (he comes off as being too smug and arrogant for my tastes) but his afternoon show and web page (below) has a feature article "Exporting America" that keeps track of all the US companies sending jobs overseas (whether or not that has anything to do with your situation, I don't know). Balducci, I am in the offset printing field. I am a desktop publisher, the problem here in Alabama, is all of the printers keep cutting each others throat on price, but you can order the same stuff from China dirt cheap. You just hope they typeset th brochures right .

I agree that Lou Dobbs comes off as smug, most of those news guys like that come off that way to me. But ultimately they all can have good info.

I will say another thing about exporting jobs, as far as the big money guys goes, why pay for skilled labor, when you can get children in Malaysia to produce your product for pennies on the dollar? Ethics, and supporting your own country. If most people in America lose jobs due to importing of most products, where will the money come from for the products to purchased, it won't be from the jobless.. That's just a vicious cycle.

The crazy thing I ask is how can people support this guy even after all of this. They say it would happen to anyone.

We may have to go to Mars because the Earth is gradually being destroyed with the forests being cut down and pollution (George Bush didn't help the situation either), but we cannot afford it, literally. We are already in a huge deficit because of this immoral war in Iraq.

I don't know, I work for my Father-in-law, and in 2000 he had told me and my wife to vote for bush (which I did not do, due to economic policies that were being campained.) because it would mean stability in my employment, and good for the economy. All I can say is his company lost 1.5 million last year, and a total of 3 million over the last 4 years. You have to look at the facts in black and white, and not listen to the rhetoric.
With that said, I would like to say that there is rhetoric from all parties, they all want to get in office, I'm not saying that only one or two parties are guilty of it.

I would like to say this to all out there, even if you are too young to vote. When listening to the politicians, listen to all of them, and hear them. Vote for whom you believe will be the best for you, not who you think will be the most popular. I'm not pushing a party here, I am just saying, if you are a blue collar worker, vote for what will give you the jobs, if you are a white collar worker, vote for who will keep you employed, if you inherited millions of dollars, vote for who will help you keep it. Bottom line vote, there is no wrong vote, regardless what you hear, your vote is your voice, and the only way to be heard is to cast your vote. Your vote is important, and it does matter. Our soldiers died to give you this privilage, not using this privilage means those soldiers died in vain. It truly doesn't matter if you vote Republican, Democratic, Liberitarian, Green, Socialist, or whatever as long as it is what you believe in.

If you do not cast a vote, you will not be penalized, you just should not be upset if the person you wanted to win didn't get in office. Remember a vote counts, Hitler won by 1 vote. How many people do you think wished they had voted 3 years after he was elected?


I realize some of you don't like these type of posts, and to you I ask you just kindly not read them, nor flame them. I appologize if anyone is offended by this, I don't think it is offensive, nor do I intend it to be. I try hard not to put my political beliefs in these type posts, only to try and keep them balanced, but it is hard sometimes to keep out nuances that you can see through.Also, I am in no way, ashamed of my political beliefs, I just realize that if I voiced them here someone would start flaming, and I don't want that.

If I ever have job problems again, I'll come back to the Army. You can't beat free rent, utilities, food and a paycheck to top it off. It isn't even a difficult job, one of the easiest I have had.
