Probably my favorite is the magnetic mark. A simple match trick that uses the burnt match to draw a line on the palm of the hand that mysteriously turns into an "x". If it's presented right it blows them away and it's so simple.

I couldnt agree more. Color monte is cheap and examinable. It gives huge reactions too, but mainly its a blast to perform

The cups and balls is not only one of the best close up routines but is also one of the best tricks in magic. It is a classic that will be around as long as magic will be around. By the way my favorite close up effect is the 3 card monte (ungimmicked).

my favourite trick is the kinetikey, but there is one problem: if you hand it to spectators they may brake it

One of the bill switches. Hundy 500 or Visi-Bill.

One of my favorite non gimicked trick would be Torn or Triumph.

My favorite gimmicked trick would have to be Public Transit, Card Shark, or Stand up Monte. :P

My favorite trick is the one where a half naked girl jumps out of a box! I'm still saving up for that one  Seriously, any trick that uses something that I can leave with them as a keepsake is a great way to capture and remember the moment. It's also a great way to promote myself and get them to talk about what they experienced, because they have a tangible reminder of the event. Spectators will often keep a signed card or bill for years. I couldn't ask more from a trick. 8)

Once I get my Sylvester Pitch routine down, it will probably be one of my favorite close-up effects.

Roll up your sleeves and...

I'll third the Color Monte... a lot of bang for the buck and totally examinable at the end.

A personal favorite:
You can also do a sponge ball routine and then proceed into a cups and balls routine with the sponges. Sometimes, I make the sponges change into solid, knit balls right under their noses with the first pass  and continue on. The switch is only essential if you want to "chop" it a little. It just depends on my mood as to which cups/balls routine I want to perform.

Nice thread,
Wook

I'll fourth Color monte, it is a great trick. I use two jokers and a ace. Instead of the colours, because I dont have the actual trick.

Scotch and Soda is AMAZING, I just wish it could be done consecutive times.

Matt
