It's not difficult to make one . What you want to get your hands on is the DVD by Cellini called "Magic That Can Be Performed Anywhere"
where Cellini demonstrates how to use one to do amazing stuff .

I have the DVD. That's why I want one. ;)
I'm planning to make one out of a wooden egg actually. But it would be nice to find an actual loop ball. :)

Slice off part of a ping pong ball. (Or maybe it's a table tennis ball in Canada?)

Well, if you don't want to make one I believe that Abbott's Magic Co. still makes a looped hank ball . Viking also makes a good hank ball , but I don't think it comes standard with a loop. You could probably custom order it with a loop .

Are you wanting to have a loop ball premade so you can compare the size of the loop and placement for the egg you are making ?
I think you'll find that trial and error placement will be a good way to make sure the loop is just right on your egg .
I would suggest buying a "Chinese Egg Bag" , except that most versions of this trick that I've seen recently have a terrible looking wooden egg. I'm sure you will do fine making your own and it will look much better . I find good wooden eggs at the local craft stores (chains like Michael's Crafts here in the U.S.) . They are already pretty smooth, so it only takes a bit of sanding , then a coat of primer and you're ready to paint it with egg white enamel paint .

That Cellini DVD is great , isn't it ? :D

A loop ball is a utility device used in productions, usually of silks.

Can't post what it is without exposing it .

It's also known as a "hank ball" . Can be used for producing and vanishing a silk handkerchief , or used for ball manipulation.
The principle is also used in a trick known as "The Chinese Egg Bag" .

Generally speaking the versions of "The Chinese Egg Bag" that are made today come with a really bad looking wooden egg , which you will want to replace immediately with a better looking fake egg , but other than that it is a good effect .

No. It isn't as visual. You can't show your hands empty.

Possibly. But I'm thinking more along the lines of sponge ball manipulation. ???

Well, I know someplace that still sales them, but they are not at all hard to make out of ping pong balls. But they are also pretty inexpensive to buy also.

Hmmmm.....seems like a good idea to put a loop thru a sponge ball too. I might have to work on this. ;-)

If you need to know where to get a hank ball let me know.
