O.K. Folks here is some common information pertaining to the ethics in pickpocketing. After many years of doing magic and pickpocketing, I've run across several times people asking how to pickpocket for unethical reasons. I don't feel it is appropriate for us to discuss, teach, or encourage anyone to pickpocket for reasons other than entertainment. Please understand that this art was originated for criminal reasons and over the years has turned into a great form of entertainment. If you are buying books, dvds, or viewing websites to learn this art for unethical reasons that is fine as long as you do not bring them up here on this message board. Mind you, this is just my opinion, as we all have one, but I can tell you from experience that the best way to do this is for entertainment. If anyone is really interested in stealing from people, let them figure it out on their own, don't encourage or offer help. People are hurt by this type of activity and I don't feel good about assisting potential criminals to learn how to victimize people. It reflects poorly on us as entertainers who use pickpocketing in our acts when we teach people how to use techniques who intend to use them for other purposes, and it has the potential to affect our shows negatively as well since someone in the audience may have been robbed in the past.
