Is this purchase a reasonable one. Also, can it be used on the street and is it self contained? Thanks for your help.

P.S. Please feel free to add any experiences or benefits of using the wallet. Once again, thanks!

I think your better bet is Super Sharpie

Ok then, which one would you guys recommend, Super Sharpie or Mind Reader Wallet? They say that for the Super Sharpie, that "you don't have to keep buying a 'gimmick' when the ink runs dry."
:?: Is that true?
:?: Does that mean that the gimmick will never run out?
:?: Can you use it as long as the Mind Reader Wallet?

 Also are there any restrictions to the Super Sharpie?

I can't imagine trying to compare the two. They're both tools. Which is best? A hammer or a screwdriver? It all depends on what you need to do.

It's not true that the SS will never run out, just that it's refillable. In other words, it's not a "one time use" kind of thing.

Restrictions? I suppose so. You have to have a reason to bring out a Sharpie, so that limits you to certain things. For example, you can't bring out a pre-written prediction, as you would have no reason to bring out the pen. The presentation would require you to write something, or have them write something, as an excuse to bring out the pen and steal the gimmick.

The Mind Reader Wallet is basically a "peek" device. Anything written can be secretly read. Totally different methods, the only similarity is that both are mentalist tools, and like most of these the effect is dependant on you and your presentation ability more than the gimmick.[/i]

Wait, I just read that for the Mind reader wallet, it comes "with 50 extra sheets of paper. You'll also receive a bonus additional gimmick for hundreds of performances."
:?: Does this mean that eventually you won't be able to use the gimmick anymore?
:?: Does it mean that the gimmick, or sheet of paper must be replaced after each use?

Maybe I should get the super sharpie... :?

I think you use one sheet per performance, just as you would anything that you write on. Again, it's all up to what you want to do. That would decide which one to get.

I strongly suggest if you don't have it to buy Corinda's "13 steps to Mentalism" first. Then you'll know what you need and can make an informed decision.

I used to own a mindreader wallet, and loved it the time that I had it.

To answer the questions about the mind reader wallet:
  • Yes, it can be used on the streets, and it is entirely self-contained.
  • The gimmick does run out. You can refill it, but doing so will require you to cut it open. If you do it carefully, you'll be fine. I haven't tried this, but it also seems pretty feasibly to even make your own replacement gimmick from scratch, if you're good with that sort of thing. As DaveV said, you also have to replace the paper, but the paper isn't the gimmick.

I have the Telethought wallet, and my opinion of it goes up and down. I just started playing with it again. I will have to use it in real situations and see what kind of reactions I get and the ease of use for me. I like it but for some reason seem to not use it. I can tell you that the Telethought wallet does not need refills but obviously you will need paper to have something written on and then peaked at.
