Well, if it's just one person and the rest of the audience doesn't really pay attention to him, I'll just ignore it.
Otherwise, I'll say, "you saw that? I haven't done anything yet." I then hand him my glasses.

Just remember, you want the audience on your side. Do not say anything mean to the spectator that claims to have seen something. That can ruin a show.

For some reason I am performing with cards whenever this happens (because when people know a little about cards tricks they think they have the answer to all card tricks). This is fortunate for me because I will then do the trick again using a different method and hopefully astonish them. If you get one person saying "I saw that" the faster you impress them the more the audience will be impressed with you.

Otherwise I try to manipulate the trick to point out that what they are saying is faulty even though it might be correct.

I've had this happen a few times. Most times, they were heckling (and to be honest, I don't know if they really saw what I did or not!), but I repeated a similar effect with a totally different method, "negating" what they thought they saw. Nobody paid them a whole lot of attention really.

One time, it was quite different. At a different show, I was doing one of my final tricks at a birthday party (the Strat-O-Spheres ... great trick!) One of the children was sitting a little too close (as I was making the ball disappear, I stepped forward about the same time he scooted forward to get a better look, and he saw the gimmick in the "vanishing box".) He came up to me, rather quietly, and said, "I saw how you did that." And in THAT case, a smart-alek response would've been horrible. He was trying to help. So I said, "Thank you. I'll have to work on that then," and he grinned and walked away.

So I'm always a little more cautious when I respond to this comment now. (But it's rather easy to tell whether they're trying to be helpful or not.)

Ok. I don't want to start a war here. I'm sure they have come up with some solutions on their own. However, even if they haven't, I don't think you should insult them. The whole purpose of this board is so magicians can help each ohter. If you think otherwise, why are you reading this forum?

What I sometimes do when a mess up a move or something and everyone sees it I just say "ok just forget you saw that, that never happened" and I just make a joke of it like it was unimportant. Works for me.

If someone says out load 'I saw that!', I normally go for a sarcastic approach, somthing like
"Did you! O my gosh, let me introduce you to the brightest audience member here today." They normally feel very embarrassed at that point and shut up for the rest of the show. Then I carry on with the trick if I can, or move on to the next trick. Either that or they try and hide their embarrasment by bowing to everyone or something. In that case I move on to a really impressive trick that will blow their socks off (involving them in the magic if I can). That really shuts them up.
