What's is the secret to doing this DL? I wanna start doing DL's w/o a break any suggestions or tips to start off? Im working on Sankey's standard DL, but i want to gear towards the puch off DL.

for a DL w/o break, I would suggest you learn the snap double.

pinky count. once you learn this, your doubles and even triples are automatic.

Daryl teaches it on his Ambitious card routine. It does require a get-ready. It just uses a left thumb count to get the break. Some magicians like this DL, but it is basically a slightly flourishy strike-like double. I think it is fairly hard to make it look decent.

I don't know what Sankey was teaching, but I know that he has done a basic strike double which does not require a get-ready.

I think one of the best, and reasonably easy push-off double, is the Vernon Push-Off. It does require a get-ready, but there are many ways to get ready in a logical manner. The advantage to the Vernon Push-Off is that you push the top card to the right with the left thumb in the center of the card. That is more natural than from the edge.

Actually if you think about it...the "Push-Over" part IS the get ready for the actual lift.

My favorite way is to hold the deck in my left hand and with the index finger of the left hand press against the top, pushing the top cards to the rear. With the thumb of the right hand I lift the two top cards together as one and procede to what ever the next move may be. I am 82 yrs old and been doing card magic these many years.

is that how you do all your lifts off the top? It sounds very peculiar way to do it that would arouse speculation. I perfer the pushoff because it looks exacly how I take off my single cards which will prevent any and all question of how many cards there really are..

why dont you want to have a break? to do a DL you need to catch a break. Push offs are the easiest way to get a break

The Strike doesn't require any break. Neither does the Pushoff. Both are just ways to seperate 2 cards without using a thumb count. There is a PDF on the internet somewhere that teaches the Strike, which I believe is the most natural looking.
