Coin Roll

Dude, don't give up, just get a bigger coin(half dollar or something foreign) and just play with it every chance you get...it will help a lot.

I am currently using a 2 pound coin(british). No, I don't live in england, but it is the perfect size for me and it is thicker making it easier...

I am practicing on a quarter because thats what I will be using. It may take longer to get down, but it will be what I use.

Currently I can get 5 rolls in 20 seconds (thats my average as of RIGHT now). You just have to get a feel for it and then it comes naturally.

Try a half dollar, it is a lot easier.

I used to find this very hard, so I gave up on learning this flourish. I just read through bobo's book for about the 5th time to find tricks that look good, and I came across the coin roll and I started practicing it a lot. It gets easier the more you try it, it is just a knack you have to acquire (although it is one I don't quite have yet). Another cool flourish that I am working on is the 4 coin roll down. I am just having trouble right now with the part where you seperate the four coins into stacks of 2...

The coin roll flourish is much easier if your hand is moist...yes licking your knuckles is an option. :lol:

Hello guys and gals,

I can do the Roll-Out (Down) in two ways. First I spend two months on the edge roll, rolling just one coin (a Norm Nielsen coin) from finger to finger. Then I started to practice the split roll-out with four coins followed by the roll-down of four coins one coin after the other (another two months) and now I am working on the third way, the flash roll-out. Needless to say that these sleights ARE difficult indeed and you should not expect to get it down in two weeks. I spend four months in total (every day 20-30 minutes practicing) before I did it flawlessly.

lol I always practice the coin roll during my boring physics lectures, I started practicing it a week ago when school started again and I can do it slowly now...

Agreed...It makes you look better than the proverbial Uncle Frank who pulled coins out of your ears for years....

Keep practicing it will give your tricks a finished look....

i f you're still reading this post, try this tip:
keep the back of your hand you're using parallel to your chest/body instead of slightly tilting it down like most people do.

once you get the movement down, the extra momentum of the slight downward tilt will help put some speed into the roll.
