Many topics have been posted on these boards at the whim of the user which include topics that have already been discussed. This causes frustration to other users because such frivolous posting spams the boards.

So how does one keep from bringing up topics that have already been discussed? The answer: THE SEARCH OPTION. Many meaningless posts have been locked or deleted because the user didn't bother to check if the topic had already been posted by way of the search option. To ensure that ignorance is not an excuse, I have created this brief and simple tutorial covering the search option.

USING THE SEARCH OPTION

Look at the top of the page on the Penguin forums and you'll see many selections to choose from. These selections are at the top in the area where you would check your Private Messages. Among these choices is the SEARCH option.


Upon clicking the search tool, you are brought to a new window divided into two halves. The SEARCH QUERY and the SEARCH OPTIONS.


The top halve is the SEARCH QUERY. This allows you to enter KEYWORDS to search for posts or AUTHORS who have posted topics. Enter your keywords or author name in the given boxes.


At the bottom is the SEARCH OPTIONS, which is divided once again into halves. The LEFT side of the search options allows you to select what FORUM you want to search through (Off Topic, Street Magic, Mentalism, etc.) or what CATEGORY you want to search through (Penguin Magic, General Discussion, Street Corner, etc.).

Select the forum in the TOP bar and the category in the BOTTOM bar.


Now, on the RIGHT side of the search options are selections that organize your results. These help you put results in order so you don't have to fish through every thread it brings up.


Once you've filled in what you think is necessary for your search, click the SEARCH button at the bottom which will bring you all the related threads containing keywords in them.

Exactly. This exact topic has been discussed many, many times. Perhaps the use of the search option would have saved time...
