I finally had time to take a look at the "coin" section and saw your post of the Miser's Dream. NOW I REMEMBER WHY I USED THAT GOLD BUCKET! It has been years since I did it. When I saw it on T.V. I liked it and learned it. I performed it a few times. I got the moves but I made the mistake of not developing the presentation to its potential, so it was not the big hit I'd hoped it would be.
I think it is a great effect and I might consider pulling it out of retirement and developing some kind of wonderful presentation.
As far as coins go, I could never use as many real coins as I needed to because we needed bread, cheese etc... I loved the sound of real fifty cent pieces or silver dollars falling into the bucket. However since my budget did not allow for lots of real coins, I began collecting the silver coin tokens I would get at the gas station every time I got gas. Those are about the size of silver dollars so they can be seen from the stage.
What I did was produce some while on the stage, then went down into the audiance and produced some from ears, hair noses etc... then went back on stage and produced some more.
Again, I feel I should have made a bigger deal out of it and it might have been accepted more.
