He was at a bar, drinking. The man who swore of vengeance, while distracting the man, must've swiped poison into his drink.

#5: the threat card was laced with poison somewhere he touched and as he was scared from the threat he probably ate his nails ingesting the poison or the same answer but instead of biting his nails he was eating something so he ingested the poison? and he was at a bar drinking so maybe the threat came from the guy who serves the drink so he laced his drink cup with poison and when he got the threat at his house he either bit nis nails in fear or ate something which made him ingest the poison he got from the cup he touched at the bar if thats so then the motive is probably cuz he on purpose made the server drop his stuff and then made fun at him infront of everyone or something like that, #2 probably the one killed was the old chief and the one who killed him was the 1 who was about to be declared because he didnt want that post even thou he kept insisting he was named as the new chief? just a random guess since anyone would want a chief post xD maybe there was a reason why he didnt want the post.. and my other guess about #2 is the retired chief committed suicide. Tell me if im right xD

The REAL mystery is how you found THIS thread that is about six years old. My guess is that it caught your eye after performing a search for something else.

For #2, I like this solution - they opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate the new chief, he was shot in the head with the cork and died.
