i have been really intrested in performing magic in a long time and it was my uncle that got me in to it... street magic is really cool and i have been practicing for quite a while but haven't "really" performed. could you guys give me some advice?

I dont think you have really elaborated on what area you need advice in... so I all I can say is Read books, watch dvds and practice!

thanks regarding the books and videos. i do have a couple of videos. i do have list of tricks/suff i can perform. i need advice on how to perform on the streets. like what situations to avoid, how to pick some one to do the trick on. im not doing magic to get paid, just for the fun of it, to amaze the spectator and to put a smile on their face.

I believe you want to BLAINE... i hear blaining is possible but awkward if you dont have a giant camera crew following you around... lol but then ther is busking which is putting on an entertaining performance and passing the hat for money.. i prefer busking to blaining but blaining is as easy as walking up to a stranger and saying, "excuse me sir/mam wouold you like to see a bit of magic?" I refrain some saying "exuse me sir/mam would you like to see a magic TRICK?" I try to avoid trick as it seems gimmicky, but thats my two cents hope i helpd a bit.. i would also try to avoid magic on teeneagers if they are a bit older than you or are immature cause they usually try to heckle you... they are also very grabby and unnappreciative... hgope i helped

i guess thats a way to say it, blaining. what does that have to do with a camera crew?

so what kind of tricks should be performed?
card and coin magic is my preference, but sometimes it gets overused by others.

another quick question, would the silver, copper, bras transposition trick work on the streets?

i noticed that busking is alot more famous compared to blaining and that i see alot of negative feedback on blaining. why is this so?

i find blaining (not sayin i have done this cause im just starting off) has that "cool" effect (which sounds immature). im actually looking forward to blaining. im not looking to get paid or make a career out of performing magic, i just want to do it as a hobby.

is my perception on these all wrong?

no, lots of people prefere to blaine over busk.

The raven should work very well for blaining. I dont know about the rest of the effects because i'm not positive about what they are.

i believe the other stuff can be found on penguin magic.

lightning box is where the signed coin appears in a tied up sack within a box that is within a box.

lethal tender is where the coin in spectators hand switches places with a coin in the wallet.

exploding dice is where a black dice blows up into 8 smaller white dice.

revolver, nemesis, and fish sandwhich can be found here at penguinmagic.

the hover card i have i made myself.

Out of those, the only ones I would even consider are The Raven, Lethal Tender, and The Hover Card. In my opinion, I wouldn't use any of those, however if you perform them often then they'd be good options.

You should look into Card College/Royal Road To Card Magic/Art Of Astonishment(Volumes 1 and 3), and learn some excellent effects.

A good utility to have for 'Blaining' would be a simple TT, pick up a Vernet Classic, and play around with it, learn some good methods.

Elastic band magic could work well while 'Blaining', you might want to look into the Elastrix book series, or Dan Harlan's BandShark(Google them).

Coin magic is good, go for Bobo's Modern Coin Magic.

Mentalism would work well too, look into any material by Banachek or Osterlind, they are considered the best. Also there are some other good ones such as Darren Brown, and Max Maven. Just make sure you're buying quality products.

ok... i went out and performed a little.

i performed on the streets, and so happens i was invited by a friend of mine who is a pastor, to do a show for a youth organization.

i started of doin the 4 aces trick, from there i did an ACR then renegade, then i did, then i moved on to coins. i did the lightning box then silver copper brass transposition, then coin bite. i left revolver for the last.

it went quite well. it felt weird cause actually did good. i got great reactions, especially with the revolver.

any tips and advice on this?
