Today I was doing a trick in my advocacy class and when I was done, the kid I did the ttrick to said, Ay, you see that?!" The kid replied with, " Man magic isn't even real." I really didn't know what to say because I haven't been doing magic for long and haven't experienced this yet. What can I say next time? Is there a good book that will teach me some good lines or something? Next time somone wsays that, I'm thinking of doing a good trick to them but AI'm not sure which one will hit them the most (not physically). I know that schools arent the best place for magic due to hecklers, but I would appreciate suggestions or books?DVD's to hel pme deal with that. (Mainly books though please).

Colombini has some good one liner books.

I would have said "if you believe it is, than it is"

You should ask the kid, "who ever said magic is real?" that's of course assuming that you're not claiming to have magic powers.

...pause....

"YA THINK?!"

When the magician themself delivers an ironic putdown of their own credibility like that, it really disarms them. They're laughing, smiling, and see you aren't trying to make them believe anything stupid, just entertain them.

Magic happens when you percieve it as it is happening.

No because then the smart [edited] says "Because I know it's not. It's not real!"
