His Revolutionary Coin Magic video is great, but I think there is better material out there for "a newbie." I say this mainly because Sankey dosen't teach basic things on the tape -- he assumes you already know these sleights and moves. In some instances, Sankey is improving, or modifying standard techniques, and it really helps to know these to understand the changes he is making. If you have the basics down, though, it is definately a great tape.
If you haven't yet developed coin chops, then you might consider Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Money Miracles DVDS. These are really good and teach you the basics through some very fine routines. Another good source of coin magic is Bobo's Modern Coin Magic book. This is a classic work teaching all of the basic and intermediate sleights, and is much like the Royal Road to Card Magic is to cards. Bobo is inexpensive, and well worth the bucks. Both of these are available here on Penguin.
There is a cool site dedicated to coin magic where you can learn some of the basics. The site is not a commercial magic site, so you won't see things like the Ammar DVDs for sale there, but it has a lot of excellent learning material for coin magic and some video clips of interesting moves and routines. Look in their "foundation" section to get into the basic education area. (If you don't know the answer to the question to get the password, PM me and I will tell you).
