Never try to outwit a heckler. It's not going to do you any good. Either they will win or you will look like an [edited]. I tend to ignore them or confront them in front of everyone. Either they will calm down or everyone else will turn on them.

Ignore them. You should get a Charactor that the Audience that is watching likes. If they like you, and someone heckles you, the audience will be on your side. So, the Heckler will shut up.

Yeah, just go with what everybody above me is saying...

If you search through this section, you should find helpful advice on turning them against the crowd, or even walking off, and the crowd without the heckler come over to you.

Do Not Ever try and make anybody in magic (even a heckler) feel stupid.

I loved this: A couple of months ago or so, I was doing a card effect I made up to a group of people and one of the specs. was this kid( I'm in High School btw) and I used to teach him magic until he abandoned it and totally blew the whole thing off. Well, he thought he and another kid could figure this one out by telling people, what I'm doing and such. I did this twist to my finale of the effect and they couldn't understand or figure out what I did, and the other specs. who were enjoying my performance started hassling them and saying stuff like, " Hah, he got you. You guys thought you knew what he was doing, etc." I felt awesome because then the heckler felt stupid after being heckled by everyone else. It's great! LOL.

1- Sir, aren't you suppose to be out front parking cars! it can't be break time already.
2- And here I thought alcoholics was suppose to be anonymous.
3- Why don't you lean up against that wall, it's plastered too.
4- Sir, I'm glad to see you wearing men's clothes this time.
5- (If I have a vent dummy) The dummy says " Where's his ventriloquist?"

on the 2nd post he says never try to outwit a heckler.
Balls to that, in cards just top palm, or glimpse their card, lose it in the deck and find it later or just force a card from the beginning.

With coins when they say its in your other hand learn the goshman pinch (i believe this is taught by Greg Wilson and Jay Sankey in some of their DVDs) and say "no it's not, now back to the coin"*then look at your other hand* or do the Darwin dump with the coin, this works brill.(taught on Darwins 'encyclopedia of thumbtip tricks')

With a thumbtip, dont get caught in the first place, or dump ASAP, or by a Sucker ThumpTip,(i managed to get hold of one from a joke shop)A sucker TT is just a solid thumbtip. In other words a joke, or a great way to fool hecklers.

You don't have to try to outwit a heckler. You can do the magic and he can't. Tell them that and see what they do.
