I am not into escapology by any means and I don't know a lot about it but would like to learn. I am just curious about escapes from handcuffs. Do any of you guys use the handcuffs that look real and feel real but just have a switch on the side you push to get out. Do any magicians use these kinds of cuffs or do they rely on their on personal talent with manuevering lock picks?

i dont like to use fake handcuffs, because then if some one puts you in real ones then talls you to get out, you wont be able to.
so a just make pick's for them. it is not hard at all. i just use paperclips.

I use both approaches.
Skill and knowledge comes to bat in some situations; well made gaffed apparatus comes to bat in others.
It's always a plus to understand as many facets to an art as possible, and to use what works best in achieving a desired effect.

not true. At cannons they have gimmicked cuffs, and they look very real.

yes, gimmicked cuffs do look real, otherwise they woodnt be good. there are no cuffs that hav little switches that open them however. the only ones that have that are the ones you get in arcades. those dont even look like real cuffs. that is what i was trying to say
