Here is a new gimmick. Well I don't know if it is new or not but I just heard about it. It is called Pickpocketeer. The review says that you will be able to pickpocket 95% of anyone in your audience without having to know the art of pickpocketing. Here is a link for you.

The down side to these things is that the spectator still can't see the billfold. If they do the effect is ruined. One other thing I just thought about, I wonder if anyone has ever accused the pickpocket of keeping the wallet. Since they don't give it directly back to the owner and you can't exactly see the performer put it back in the spectator's pocket it does seem kind of strange. Oh well. If anyone wants to put their two cents in feel free.

ok heres the thing.
For a legal/stage pickpocket routine, im not sure about gimicks, but, there was a book published in 1930 called "the prince of pickpockets" about George Barrington, he forged long metal hooks to force into the the pockets of his "victims". also in paris and rome, many pickpockets use knives to cut the pockets and allow the pockets to fall out.

On the other hand i have seen footage of chinese pickpockets (illegally) using long large, tweezer like tools to take wallets. try youtube.com and search for pickpockets, the footage might be there. you could use this, but...

If youre good enough you shouldnt need some, for inspiration on extreamly advanced techniques (just demonstration) watch pickpocket (a 1959 french film by robert bresson) which shows amazing techniques used in paris by real pickpockets.

The only way to pickpocket is to misdirect your audience. That's the best way.

it depends on what kind of pickpcketing.....the kind where you bumb into someone or the kind you just touch them and misdirect with diffrent ways such as moving the hands and such....on the spot teaches a watch steal and pickpocketing
