Well I guess these would be a good start:

Bite Out Quarter

D'lite

Card Tricks, people love card ticks so learn some great tricks. Buy some books, and if you want, buy
Born to Perform is a good starters DVD
And to get peoples attention get hummingbird card or floating bill (I doubt you can do LDS)
Please, please, please!! do not take his advice. BTP is the WORST DVD I have ever seen. He teaches everything wrong, and the tricks aren't that impressive. Bite out quarter?? Kids would tear you apart with that one. D'Lites suck for school, kids love to grab, again they'd tear you apart. It is OK, if you can keep your distance. LDS is one of the best attention getters I have for school, kids love seeing a card shoot 12-13 feet in the air. Please, before you give advice, know what your talking about.
dude, sometimes you give really bad advice. #1. BTP is a great dvd. #2. Bite out quarter is good for school (common object), but you do have to watch you angles. #3. I do agree with you on D'Lites, they are not good for school.
And now to answer this guy's question: Gimmicks aren't always the best things. Trust me, kids always want to touch and grab at you when you perform at school (They do it to me everyday). I would suggest picking up Bobo's Modern Coin Magic, because it uses common objects. Also, another good dvd to get is On the Spot by Greg Wilson. <---Some tricks aren't the best for school, but if people ask you to do something and you don't have your
gimmicks, you could perform one of these effects instead. And if your school offers soda cans, may I suggest Wayne Houchin's: Sinful (Masterminds (Criss Angel): Vol. 1). Last but not least, I would definately
not sugguest using invisible thread.
Thats my suggestions.
