Where can I find a good Expanded half? I do not want the SASCO brand which is the only thing that Penguin sells.

Also do you prefer the hopping halves like sterling's or hopping halves with expanded shells?

If you want a great expanded shell, THen I suggest going to Todd Lassen. He is the best coin Gaffer in the world. The shell set will run you back some. But you will make your money back with your first show you do with them.

Lassen coins are great. But, if you can't swing the extra dough, Johnson shells are very, very good. Plus they won't break your bank.

It comes with 2 expanded shells but I believe on is a 1/2 dollar the other an English penny. I may be wrong, you could always call them and ask. I have bought several Johnson effects from them and have never had a problem

Tango's Expanded (Half Dollar) Shells -- especially the magnetic kind -- are utter crap... they barely cover the edge (maybe 50%), and are completely obvious when face down. Luckily, it works beautifully with The Raven; otherwise it would have been a complete waste of money.
