I have been trying to think of lines to use when calling volunteers up to the stage. I have a couple that I like that I learned from Banachek's Pre-Thoughts. I am generally trying to think of simple things that will generate laughs or appeal to the audience. What do you guys use?

Well, for a mentalism show I'm currently putting together, I'm going to call up a volunteer by performing an effect on them. All they will have to say is 'STOP!'

Just by reading the above, it may not seem to make sense, but it does with the effect.

Just say whoever wants to come up, duke it out! jk lol

How loarge will your audience be?
if its huge just call out people from the audience by saying like "You in the blue shirt, come up and help me out"

If the audience is small (20 and under or something), do it with your tricks. Like if your doing bill in kiwi and need a bill have someone come up and stay on stage to help you. Use your imagination!

Thought-provoking... and may be a possibility.
...Although I have been trying to be as clever as possible with it.
My next act will actually be at an old folks home... so I will have to call up the ones that can actually still walk...
Thank you for responding to the thread...
And bendini... the audience will be more than 20 people... hopefully 40... but we will see...
...Anyone with other lines or ideas?

Or possibly any good effects to perform on them as you are calling them up as sneak mentioned? Maybe a good, quick, but cheap mentalism effect... I am calling four people up total, 3 of which will be seated, and one that will remain standing... hmm...

I throw bricks at people. Not real ones of course, but I do a gag with a real brick before I throw the real ones out.

I was just about to say what fallingblood does. You can buy goshman foam bricks for cheap. Then get a real brick, demonstrate it's destructiveness, and throw the foam ones out. I think I saw this on an old Copperfield video.

You could do a gag like tell everyone to check under their seats to see who will be the next volunteer. While they are occupied with that, put on some glasses that have the springs and eyeballs that droop down and wiggle. Scream and yell "Oh my god, what happened to my eyes!" and everyone will laugh.

Hahahaha... some funny ideas kraynik.

I would love to do the brick idea... or do it with foam eggs...
...However I cant since this is an old folks home... I cant risk on hurting anyone. They fall very easily and hurt themselves very easily...

So what to do... hmm...

Use a balloon with the words "I'll be your volunteer!" written on it. Smack it out over the group. They love that......

Haha, dsingle... I will definitely do that. Great idea! I need to find a good rose trick.

Jamesjay... great idea, but not for the type of show I'm doing...

And guardian... thats the generic thing to do... I would rather make things interesting...

I think Guardian was getting to the point of "the most direct approach is the easiest and simple".
Just state that for your next effect you will need the help of a spectator from the crowd.
I personaly do a comedy show and have borrowed lines from some other magicians such as
"For my next effect I will need the help of a sucker...I mean spectator from the crowd"
(once a fellow of madam is on stage) "Now Sir (or madam) please inform these lovely folks that we have never met before. Thank you Dad (or Mom)".
"Madam would you be so kind to join me on stage. A big round of applause for her as she makes her way up here. Whats your name madam? Angela, wonderful. Now where are you from Angela? Ohio? Very nice. Could you please write your phone number down on this slip of paper please. It really doesnt have anything to do with a effect I'm just a very deasperate man.
