Depends on the performer. I will take tips, but only under certain circumstances. First, I usually say they don't have to, since I'm being paid already by the resturaunt. I do this because some people feel obligated to tip, and I don't want them to feel that way. So, I give them an out. However, if they insist, I will take the tip, as not to offend them.

The size of the tip usually plays a part too. If it's a large tip, I'm more likely to take it, because those people are usually quite well off, and can afford it. If it's a small tip, I usually politely decline, because there is a chance they could use it more than I would need it. I always thank people who offer to tip me though.

Also, sometimes I will just tell the people to tip their waiter. I do this politely though, usually by thanking them for the offer, but then saying that people who really deserve it are the waiters for keeping everything running smoothly, or something like that.

So it really depends on you.

Yes I accept tips. If fact I have two large buttons on my vest; one says "I WORK FOR TIPS" and the other is "SUGGESTED TIP $2435.80."

No, in fact the servers like when I am there. When customers are happy they tip better and most servers tell me their tips are higher when I am there.

one more question what on average can you make bby only taking tips in and can you live off of it if your doing it 5 or 6 days a week.

By only working for tips, you are a fool. ALWAYS, repeat, ALWAYS get paid by the restaurant. The only time I work only for tips id during an audition, after that it is going to cost the restaurant some money.

yeah i thought so i was asking because i heard that some magicians only work for tips i thought that was crazy. one more question does wearing your button affend anyone the one thats asking for tips.

I've also heard both cases. Some waitstaff don't like that the magi is getting tips, but they don't understand that they will get better tips too. Their feelings get hurt and they complain. Other than that, I'll shut up and let Paddy continue what he does best.
