Music has an important role in magic.Especially Stage magic.The type of music is what gives your audience the sense of awe or excitement.Certain Music should be paired with certain illusions.(Example:D'lites=Fast paced music, Sawing in half=Maybe some heavy metal or creepy type music.)The music gives the audience a feeling of what to expect.Try watching a horror movie with out music.Its just not as exciting or scary.

What I do when choosing music is I'll ussually listen to a song, while going over what will be happening at that stage in the trick.if it makes me feel astonished or what ever the feeling should be,then I'll use it.BUT, keep looking at other songs.Maybe you'll come across one better,or more exciting.
