So last night, I'm working at this place in town called the Health Tree. New place. Very nice. Organic food, vitamin supplements, very cool. I know one of the owners personally. I get there around 5:30 for my moment of Zen, warm ups and whatnot, and start table hopping around 6 pm.

It was such a blast. Did sponge balls, Lethal Tender, numerous card and coin effects, even taught one of the young employees how to gouge out his eyeball. Sweet.

You know what effect killed the most? A simple DL card trick wherein the spec picks a card, returns it to the deck, I fail to find it three times, only to have them name the card and it is face up in the face down spread. Simple, yet satisfying.

I go back again next Wednesday, and am bringing out the big guns.

Isn't the DL trick in Mark Wilson's? I love that one. Most of my card effets are just simple ones from that book that get good reactions when presented right.

Yup, that's the one. Lesson learned: you don't need expensive stuff, you need sold, entertaining, PRESENTATION!!!

Although the expensive stuff is cool, too. Don't get me wrong.

It's called Reversed Card in Deck and is in the DL section of his book. Page 91 if you have the large hardback volume.

I'm a useful engine.
