Maxwell Murphy: Co - Founder of Penguin Magic
Maxwell Murphy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Growing up, his mother was a special needs teacher and his father managed the behavioral health department at a local hospital. At a very early age, his parents instilled in him a passion for community contribution. Today, Maxwell is actively involved in several charities and oversees the Penguin Foundation, a source of support for hospitals and other organizations dedicated to helping sick children. In High School Maxwell played trumpet and toured Europe with the Blue Lake International Jazz ensemble. During this time, he also enjoyed playing defense on the high school hockey team and competing in the butterfly and individual medley events on the high school swim team. While pursuing his degree in Mathematics at the University of Michigan, Maxwell continued his performing career as a regular cast member in the University of Michigan Comedy Company. The troupe performed 2-3 shows a month for audiences ranging from 100 - 1,000. In addition to performing in the sketch and improv comedy sets, Maxwell regularly performed original stand-up comedy. Today, Maxwell continues to perform stand-up comedy and is the Co-Founder of Penguin Magic with his university pal Acar Altinsel. In his spare time, Maxwell listens to audio books voraciously. He's a student of history, politics, business, marketing and motivation. Living in Las Vegas (the magic capital of the world) Maxwell enjoys the opportunity to regularly attend the local magic club meetings and the incredible conventions that come through Vegas each year. |
