Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : More Wisdom and Wizardry : Zach C from Phoenix, AZ : Aaron Fisher continues to astonish with his refined techniques and vast experience. This lecture is much more than a demonstration of methods as Aaron unpacks some of the most fundamental elements of successful sleight-of-hand—misdirection, tension, and routine creation. My personal favorite of the evening was "The Long and Winding Road"... kings, kings, and more kings keep disappearing and reappearing in this delightful combination of sleights, humor, and (gasp) even a self-working card illusion.

Aaron is personable, humorous, and above all, generous with his knowledge and skill. He holds little back in this 3+ hour lecture.

Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Best lecture I have ever seen!! : Anonymous from Phoenix, AZ : Aaron's lecture was AMAZING!! Not only does he teach you a BUNCH of his signature effects, but he teaches you more than just the moves to do the tricks; he teaches you about timing and misdirection and other subtleties that help actually sell the trick when performing it. He also talks about how he was like when he was first starting out in magic and the lessons that he learned. He put on almost a 4 hour lecture which is practically unheard of and taught us a bunch of cool new tricks/sleights! I definitely recommend you purchasing this if you haven't already. Aaron will not only teach you how to become a better cardman, but to become a better magician as well. This is a lecture that you and your House Pants do not want to miss!

Peter Turner LIVE

Thumbs down. 2 stars : Peter Tuner : Chad F. from Roanoke, VA USA : I am a huge fan of magic lectures; however, I was very dissatisfied with this purchase. The amount of information I got out of this was not at all worth the money it cost. I would highly recommend another mentalist. This video is very thrown together and many of the explanations are incomplete and or hard to follow.

Soul Paper by Rick Lax

Thumbs up! 2 stars : Be careful-some info missing : Anonymous from Czech Republic : Firstly, brand of the product used will not work in Europe because product is constructed differently. There is a brand that works great. I think this info should be included. When you are paying for an effect I do not think it's fair to have to experiment buying 4 different brands of --- . This may be edited but the brand that works perfectly in Europe is Twining's.
The first time I tried it, I inhaled ashes into my lungs. This was extremely unpleasant, and made me cough. There should be a warning about this included. I bought download for the rising ash only, as I happen to think sucking ashes into ones mouth is goofy or gross more than creepy.
Probably in better taste to do swallowing ash with something other than "soul sucking" a dead persons initials.
Spectators may find it a bit offensive. (just my opinion)
As the others said, perfect for ash on arm.

FAX by Loki Kross

Thumbs up! 4 stars : not for begginers : Ammar A from Canada : ok so i got this thinking it would be a gimmick that does all the work but boy was i wrong.

the trick is great once you've prefected it, but it does take practice and it take guts to preform

i mean you have GOOD EXPERIENCE AND GOOD CROWD CONTROL and know all the basic moves (palming, double lift. etc.)

not only that but its not 100% angle friendly

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Get This, You Won't Regret It : Chuck Tee from Brooklyn, NY USA : Man, this is a beauty. I have been reading the other reviews, and the ONLY con to this effect is that it requires a set-up. HOWEVER, the set-up is easy. The gimmick is super easy to find and make, Rick does a great explaining how to put it together. This is probably one of the closest things to REAL magic that I can do. Do you see what he does with the paper and the fire in the video? That's EXACTLY what you will be able to do. And the story he uses is gold, IT FREAKS PEOPLE OUT. Get this. I can't believe he released it for only $10. It is definitely worth the time and money.

Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : My Favorite So Far : Shawn Mullins from Boston : As of todays date this was my favorite lecture through Penguin.

Aaron KNOWS what he is talking about from years of performing technical card magic for real audiences. He's skilled but he knows when to dial it down and also knows why important good structure in card magic is so important.

This could very well be one of the most important talks about card magic today. I'm not saying that as a fan but the in-between advice, tips and other information is pure gold. We hear that "pure gold" review a lot but if you really want to perform for real people and understand card magic... this is it.

Aaron is a good guy who really loves this art and it shows. He really cares about good magical performance and wants all of us to perform well with him.

Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Outstanding lecture : Eric from Cincinnati, OH : For those who are considering purchasing this, this is what was covered (I'm sure I've missed some things, and this only covers the first three hours of the lecture, not the 45-minute Q&A section that followed):

- "Search and Destroy"
- Tilt subtleties/misdirection
- Sandwich effects to complement S&D
- Hofzinser Catch; "Peel and steal" technique; Robert-Houdin break technique
- "Veggie Sandwich"
- Bluff pass/Nowhere Pass, technique and subtleties
- The Illusion Control; "Sexy Sadie Sandwich"
- Four-card Revelation Sequence
- "Panic"
- "Standing your ground" controlling audience's attention exercise
- "The Long and Winding Trick"
- "Machine"
- How flourishes fit into magic
- The classic pass, tips, techniques, misdirection
- How to practice the pass: "Think Stop"
- One-handed Popover/Indicator card handling
- "Hello Goodbye"
- "The Graduate;" effect and learning techniques
- "The Rising" (getting into some really challenging stuff here!)
- The Gravity Half-Pass
- "Revolution No. 9"
- Diminishing lifts sequence
- Additional work on the Robert-Houdin break
- "Helter Skelter"

Oh, and "House Pants."

This list doesn't give a feel for the overall themes of the lecture, which are what makes it so good. At one point Aaron talked about "the intersection of technique, misdirection, structure and presentation," and I really think the lecture was a masterclass in that.

Peter Turner LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Blown away.... : Alex from France : My first Penguin Lecture.
I almost fell out of my chair... for real!

I probably won't buy another lecture because really, how can it possibly get any better than this?!?

Peter Turner is a true professional.
The delivery is charismatic.
The explanations are as thorough as it gets.
The effects are PHENOMENAL.

Is there anything more I can say? This dude is a prodigy.
I'm the biggest skeptic of all when it comes to hype, and the buzz around him was quite annoying. But I decided to check it out for myself.

Well, now I know why he is such a lengdary figure.

Watch this and you will know why too.

This man is the Annemann of our time.

I purchased this as a skeptic and was transformed into a die hard believer even before the lecture was done.

This dude is the real deal and will blow you away 100%.

Peter, you are the best thing that ever happened to mentalism. Period.

Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Learn techniques to elevate the tricks you now perform : Zombie Magic from The Magic Cafe : Aaron not only taught some of his pet routines from his most popular commercial releases ( including moveless passes and double turnovers ) but he also went into how to perform for real people, whether it be paid shows or in casual atmospheres.

You can learn new tricks each moth, but if you don't know the secrets of how to perform, all you'll ever do is just tricks and never get across to an audience their full impact.

Drawing from his experiences studying theater in college, performing corporate events, nightclubs, and stand-up stage shows, he shared the hows and whys to improve our performances while doing sleight of hand.

Aaron Fisher LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Something for everyone. : Neema from NYC : I've got to say that the lecture started out slowly for me--the effects that Aaron was teaching were easy in the beginning and I was looking for a good technical challenge (a mindset that Aaron went on to confront in the lecture).

As we got deeper into the 3.5 hours of information and material, the tricks became more advanced to the point where I had to put my cards down and just watch. There is something for EVERYONE in this lecture. From great tips for beginners, to tricks and theory for intermediate magicians like myself, and even for working pros like our host, Dan Harlan.

I'm sure others will post more about the content, but Aaron shared an enormous portion of his own personal material that you can buy on Penguin, or on his website. If you're interested in value, you get way more than your money's worth on this one, which was extremely generous of Aaron in my opinion.

A very fun lecture packed full with great stuff. Do it!

Machine by Aaron Fisher

Thumbs up! 5 stars : What you see is what you get! : Anonymous from Norway : Great effect, just what you see in the video, if you are new to magic, this is a great effect if you like colour changing, very easy! requires almost no sleight of hand, i knew how the trick was done before purchasing, but i enjoy Aarons work so much that i just had to get it! if you like you can even make the gimmick your self, it will ofcourse not be as good as the one you get, but if you perform with other decks than 808 or 809 bicycle, and you have some spare cards your could easily make your own, i made my own gimmcik with the phoenix and crown deck, and it works okay!
add to cart, great trick!

Omni Pen by Wizard FX

Thumbs up! 5 stars : A True Worker : Anonymous from london, UK : i received this the other day and it was one of those products that once i watched the dvd through i was excited to start to practice and PERFORMING it to real people. i was first reluctant to buy this as i just found it was JUST a clear pen and wasn't worth the price, but i was completely wrong! As in the trailer this is much more.

the three routines on the dvd are:
sharp reloaded- first a few flipstick vanishes then greg wilsons recap and finally the whole pen becoming clear. the routine makes sence and works well with any card routine. i also love the idea of adding this to the nest of wallets.

recaptivated- this is the same concept as as sharp reloaded (pen manipulation) but with some differences. also in this routine the cap first becomes clear, then the pen. i love doing this as you can make the cap become clear in the spectators hand.

omni- this routine means you can add the omni pen as a "logical kicker" which is true. i personally do a ambitious card routine and switch the omni deck in. when you make the deck "disapeare" it as always gets a huge reaction but then i simply say " and because you tapped the pen on the deck the pen vaishes aswell" this really does slap them in the face and they just laugh at how amazing it is

Tom Stone LIVE

Thumbs up! 4 stars : A solid lecture on technique : Mr.E from Germany : This lecture might not have been outstanding but it has been very solid. A lot has already been said about the content, so I don't want to repeat that here. Yes, you have a lot of time being spent on the "crossing the gaze"-technique and some similar approaches by Slydini. But I wouldn't go as far as entiteling this a "theory"-lecture. The Zabrecky-lecture was one (at least the part that I did see...), but I would rather say that Tom's lecture was about technique. Everything he touched upon theoretically was at some point demonstrated in action - sometimes even in several applications. He did also show some routines, even some I know "on paper" through "Maelstrom". But I'm not sure wether I will really go to the extent to actually learn some of the routines. I think he even says at some point, that he didn't teach the routines for the audience to actually perform it, but to demonstate his misdirection-techniques. However, in the second part of the lecture there are some short card routines, that are actually quite nice that will pretty sure find some friends.
A big compliment to Mr. Kranzo, who has not always been my favourite host. But here, he was more "reduced" that in earlier lectures I have seen. He actually appeared quite knowledgable when it comes to the history of certain techniques and had a good sense for those rare occasions, where Tom rushed a little over certain explanations, to focus back on the details that some viewers might not have gotten.
A little downside for me however was the fact, that several apsects of the lecture are also on the Tom Stone lecture that Vanishinginc sell - one that apparently was held in 2008. I kind of hoped that Tom would not lecture on some of the same things he did 5 years before.
All in all: not a spectacular lecture, but one that you will learn a lot from in order to improve the magic you are already performing.

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Mediocre trick for a good price : Anonymous from Burlington, VT USA : This trick was worth $9 but if the price had been any more I would have been disappointed, the gimmick was nice, the tutorial was clear, but this has to be set up ahead of time and you have to have everything together and with you ahead of time, this is a solely party trick, otherwise great trick!

Soul Paper by Rick Lax

Thumbs up! 5 stars : LOVE THIS! : hospicedoc/lobstajohnson from TN : This is a VERY nice trick, very straightforwardly (is that a word) explained, and well worth the money. You may have what you need in the house, or you may have to make a trip to the grocery store, but the simplicity of this effect translates into a HUGE reaction from the audience.

I will be doing this one every chance I get.

The "bonus effect" was worth the price of the download; I will use that to predict FOUR names, and is a technique I was not aware of before now. (cryptic, yes, sorry, but trust me, if you don't know it already you will use it).

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Very good! : Anonymous from Nashville : Soul Paper was a HUGE surprise! I've spent so much more for some effects that deliver so much less! This does what it says it does and it looks great!
It's easy to perform and for possibly the first time, I was actually able to do this with stuff I really had in the house already! Lots of times I have heard that only to find it wasn't so..... That said, It's possible you may need to drop by any grocery store to get what you need...but its very likely you really do have what you need already in the cupboard.

It works... if you like the Demo and want to do it....spend the $10. Its worth it!

best!

Soul Paper by Rick Lax

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Great Voodoo Magic! : Kevin Coldani from Southern California : This was very easy to do, and it was indeed with ordinary things I had at home. Usually products that include fire and floating objects are best left to the professionals, but this is definitely something that an 8 year old can master with little practice! (It does have fire though, so adult supervision may be wise) A truly unique trick that you can do in many different ways to suit your style. The patter and your presentation skills will make this a reputation maker! Well worth the money and you get instant download gratification!

Soul Paper by Rick Lax

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Simple but very effective : Mike Helm from Tamarindo, Costa Rica : As an ex-magician that can't stop buying new tricks, I seem to rarely find the time to follow through to practice enough to perform my purchases. Some are simple to do but are not worth performing and many are so complex in design that I doubt many past the inventor ever performs them. Soul paper is as advertised in effectiveness and simpler to perform than I expected. I watched the video then ran out and showed it to our guests. It was flawless and they were amazed! - thank you Rick Lax

Charlie Frye LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : One of the greatest entertainers. : Stuart Palm from Hong Kong : Those who question if magic is an art need only to see Charlie Frye. I met him and his wife at FISM Asia, and while I was already a fan through the eccentrix DvDs, meeting him in person and seeing his professionalism, creativity and generosity made him a hero in the art of performance. He is a true entertainer, and seems to be able to do anything. This lecture is one you will watch again and again. It's full of great ideas from beginning to end. No matter what kind of act you do...just buy it, you'll be happy you did. Now I'm off to try and balance crap on my head and practice my poker deals...

Thumbs up! 5 stars : The real secreto : Anonymous from Canada : Just his performance is worth the multiple times you will watch this.
I've spent 12 - 16 hours studying NO enjoying this and I downloaded it 4 days ago. My neighbours think I'm nuts.
You will never see audience members glued to magic like Dani does.
Why?
I DON'T KNOW HOW ?! hahaha (One of Dani's favorite punch lines)
Dani learned from the best teachers: "When Juan Tamariz says you have a little problem. You have a very BIG problem."
Bought tricks through the years like magic was a commodity or a new pair of shoes.
But Dani teaches/stresses that YOU are the Magic.
You are a special "onebody" Dani

Tom Stone LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : You need this knowledge! : Robert Ace from Stockholm, Sweden : Tom Stone talks about what's in the very heart of our field, but seldom understood even by most magicians: Misdirection!

There are tricks in the lecture as well, a neat one coin routine and a very fun bottle production to mention a few.
But don't get it for the tricks, they are good tricks but you likely already have hundreds of tricks already.

Get it to learn more about how you can improve those tricks with a deeper knowledge of misdirection.

Recommend it strongly!

Tom Stone LIVE

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Theory : Lost Child from NC : I have long been an admirer of Tom Stone. He is one of the greatest thinkers to have ever practiced our craft. It is that thinking which is the highlight of this lecture. Tom takes simple tricks and as he explains them, explains why and how they work. He goes into the science of the human body and how we can use that to make our spectators completely miss things right in front of them.
If you are looking for numerous tricks to add to your repertoire, skip the lecture and purchase one of his books (Vortex or Maelstrom). If you want to learn how to take the tricks you all ready perform and make them stronger, add this lecture to your cart.

Peter Turner LIVE

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Simply Ingenious : Paul Robaia from San Diego : Peter is incredible to say the least. He teaches the audience so much valuable mentalism, and allows us to become/think "bold". He goes over so many mentalist concepts/ideologies/ and creative and memorable presentations. He teaches 3 powerful effects including one that comes with a pdf and costs 28 dollars alone at ementalism.com (entitled Isabella's Web). This is so good that I cannot recommend it enough. This and Oz Pearlman's second lecture on marketing/business/getting magic gigs/shows/jobs are the 2 best things I have purchased from penguin. I do not buy that much material. The last thing I purchased was about 6 months ago. When I buy something, I buy something that is rewarding and can be integrated (presentational or new trick wise) into my close-up act.

Chris is a funny performer and he has some good material. I really enjoyed his performances and his explanations were okay. If you're a big fan of chris and you own some of his realeased materialyou won't find a lot of new stuff here. And yess he screws up some of his performances but for me it didn't really matter.
Sleeve Star by David Jay

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Genius : Ray Logan from Maine : This is awesome, period. Sorry but I sure would like to B-slap some of the reviewers here. It seems that many magicians want everything to work immediately for them without putting a little time and practice in, shame on you, try skydiving... :) ... or they pick apart a DVD because the sound changed at a moment when they turned from the mic, it's no big deal. The DVD is to teach you the magic, not show magicians walking down train tracks, over bridges, with the sky changing colors just to show a darn trick. This DVD is very well produced and Craig did a great job of helping DJ present this effect and showed all aspects of set-up and execution. If you don't want to put a few of hours of work in go by the automatic color changing silks or a square circle.

This is for a magician who wants to create a miracle moment, and this delivers in spades. To me intellectual property is just that and it's worth hundreds of dollars if you know how to use it, here you get an excellent, well thought out gimmick as well. If it didn't work for you you're doing it wrong, go back and watch the DVD again because it's your mistake!

I think the price is fine for the great effect you get, more than fine. If you don't know how to sleeve you can learn it here and even a simple dropping the coin down the sleeve will work with misdirection and allow you to perform these effects with ease. If you are a real close up guy or worker, buy this - you need it. You will fry people, again - PERIOD...

Melting Point by Casshan Wallace

Thumbs up! 4 stars : My new favorite rubber band trick! : Jason from Bay Area, CA : I couldn't believe that this trick was done with ordinary rubber bands (especially since there is no download option currently), but it really is! And it's nice that the DVD came with rubber bands because they are great quality; they stretch well without worry of snapping.

I've been doing the trick at my desk while I'm bored ever since I got it because even when you know how its done it's still very fun to do.

The only con I have is the Casshan has obviously not done a lot of tutorials before. There are many parts that could have been explained better, but eventually I figured out what he was trying to explain. I'd give a 4.5 if I could. Amazing trick!

GERTI by Romanos

Thumbs up! 5 stars : A miracle in your pocket! : Zombie Magic from The Magic Cafe : I've been using Gerti the last week and it's a winner. The DVD is well done with thorough explanations and extra routines.

For the basic lie detector routine, there really isn't anything to learn except a routine. The better the routine, the stronger the impact.

I ask if they have a quarter ( the one time someone didn't, I gave them one to use ) I take a few coins from my pocket. I have a penny, nickel, dime and 3 quarters ( one of them is Gerti ).

My gimmick has my initials pre-signed. When I take the change from my pocket ( I simply make an adjustment so my initials aren't showing.

I have them initial their quarter and then I pretend to initial mine. They take both quarters and I turn my back, holding out my hand for them to place one of the coins into my hand.

That's it. You know which coin you have. The rest is acting/routining.

People are gobsmacked that you can know which quarter is where based on their tells. I'll carry this with me, always!

Chris Mayhew LIVE

Thumbs down. 1 stars : I just don't see it... : Anonymous from USA : I've got a number of different Penguin Live lectures. This one I got as an extra through Penguin and that's the only way that I would have it.

In addition to the language, I just didn't care for the lecture. There was a lot of times when the tricks didn't work out for Chris and a lot of dead time when there wasn't really anything happening. There were a couple bright spots or bits that were funny or interesting, but they were definitely in the minority for me. I've heard a lot about Chris and his magic, but if this is exemplary of the rest of his work, I'll leave it to others. It could also be that this was all Chris' character and I just don't understand it.

I'm sorry but after watching Dan Harlan, Harry Anderson, Charlie Frye, Josh Jay, Kainoa Harbottle, Dani DaOrtiz, Danny Garcia, Shawn Farqhar, Jon Armstrong, Michael Eaton, and Bizzaro, I just can't recommend this lecture to anyone...

Rising Card Deck Red (Bicycle)

Thumbs up! 3 stars : Good Begginers Prop : Doc Magi from Los Angeles : I have owned this prop for a while and have used it in different ways. The first challenge I had was the mechanism itself jammed and proved undependable at times. I never used it in a real close up performance though because it needed to be switched out after or before the effect. If you actually developed a lot of patter and routine it to last more than the few minutes to do it the effect is more fun but not something I used more for parlor and parties. Fanning powder comes in handy to keep the effect running properly and wax can be used to help when tack wears out. I have had it for several years now after purchasing here and it is cheap enough to enjoy playing with. My kids enjoy experimenting with it more these days than I do.

Controlled Coin Flip with Jay Noblezada

Thumbs down. 3 stars : Cool affect, but why such a big $$$$ : Anonymous from MD, USA : It is cool and simple with a while of practice. Pretty decent, but really, 10 bucks, good thing I got it with "In the beginning there were coins." You don't really have 100% control of the coin. For me i get it 90% of the time. If you want to make it perfect, be ready to practice many hours. I think this is a $2 affect.

Panic by Aaron Fisher

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Great affect! : Anonymous from MD, USA : This is a great trick, the DVD teaching is amazing. Aaron gives you so many tips and advice for different situations. I took away 1 star because the gimmick doesn't look super realistic, but I would definitely still buy it.

Ignition by Chris Smith

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Totally great!!! : Anonymous from MD, USA : I love this, It is my favorite thing so far in Penguin. Not only is it so easy to do with 10 minutes of practice, it is shocking. No one can figure it out. I know, $60, but if you are OK with the price, it is awesome. It was great for me.
In the Beginning There Were Coins Starring Jay Noblezada

Thumbs down. 2 stars : It is ok : Anonymous from MD, USA : When I bought this I was really excited, this is the first product I wasn't happy with from Penguin. I never use the routines though he taught the sleights very well. Overall it is not that bad but I just use the slights, not the tricks or routines.

Unreal by Bruce Bernstein - book

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Unreal : Anonymous from Louisville, KY USA : I'm only halfway through it, but this is a great book with excellent ideas and excellent effects and routines. More importantly, the bits and ideas and handlings can and should be used to make your own current routines better.

The STEALTH Pen with Oz Pearlman

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Can't get it to write : Sjoeri from Breda, NL : So the gimmick does what's supposed to be doing. Only thing is i can't get the writing sides of the pens to write! They give lil' ink at times i tried moisting the tip, on my shoes, my hanc nothing! Bit anti climatic if you want to do the whole routine and the pen doesn't write! But overall good prop! If my pens would write i'd gave it 5/5

SYNC by Jose Prager

Thumbs down. 1 stars : magic junk drawer staple : Emery G. Saunders Jr. from Pennsauken, N.J. : So sincerely sorry to say Sync sucks! Every one I've tried this on knew IMMEDIATELY what was going on. Mind you, I'm no novice in the magical arts. The handling for this effect totally lacks motivation. Making matters worse, I received a defective dvd...twice.Kudos to Penguin for their attempt to remedy the problem. As usual Penguin went beyond and above to fix a situation that should have been attended to by Paper Crane's quality control department. Furthermore Jose Prager ain't even on the dvd!!(can't blame him though.)I also was told that Justin Millers presentation of Duplo is not the same as Jose Pragers. The latter being far superior.Listen Penguins, go ahead, toss your money out the window, but don't buy this. No way Jose!!! I was trying my ever lovn' best not to give this any stars, but Penguin won't let me.

Tool by David Stone

Thumbs up! 5 stars : TOOL : Alan Blair from Australia : This really is amazing!!!!!!!!!
How often can card miracles be performed and you don't have to worry about ANY heat on you?
Place 4 red back cards on the table face up and without touching them again a spectator turns them over to find blue backs on all four cards !!!!!!
TOOL does that for you !!!!

How I predicted Super Bowl 46 by Dan Cain

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Inspired enough to do something like this. : Edward Mann from UK : Like all great magic and mentalism this is a simple effect. When I say simple is best it is because it is easy to understand and therefore there is no confusion in the mind of the audience. That to me is key to great reactions. Dan Cain delivers a method wrapped in a well thought out and well written guideline which contains some great psychological tips and tricks to enable a performer to pull off an outstanding piece of showcase mentalism. You are not limited to predicting sporting events with this method, performed correctly as Dan tells, you could predict anything. If you want to get your name known and you want the publicity and if you think you are ready for it, then I highly recommend this PDF.
I am hoping to do something like this soon myself. Thanks Dan.

Multiplying Soap Bubbles by Vernet - Trick

Thumbs down. 2 stars : Disappointed : Shannon from Santa Rita, Guam : I have a decent routine put together with bubbles using Loops (Finn Jon) and the "Wonder Bubble Trick". I thought these would help add to that routine. They are NOT for close up at all, and there was no instruction on how to use them, display them, handling, routines, just the bubbles.

Harry Lorayne's Best Ever Collection Volume 1 by Harry Lorayne - DVD

Thumbs up! 5 stars : Great of Course : Wesley Negron from Queens, NY : I vouch for anything and everything with Harry Lorayne's name on it. Even if you don't personally care for him or his style, his effects are superb and surely you can use his material and adapt it to your style. He's a magician whose work I wish more young magicians payed attention to. I highly recommend anything that has his name on it.

Psypher by Robert Smith (Universal Impression 2.0)

Thumbs up! 3 stars : Not as versitile as I hoped : Thibius from Edmonton, AB Canada : I love this idea, and the simplicity is beautiful. I would have given 3.5 stars if that was an option but could not go to 4 even though I like Psypher. I adjusted my device to work inside a deck of cards. I am very carefully 'calibrated' and yet do not get a reliable result thought the card box. The video shows it working through 10 sheets, that only happens if the subject holds the pen perpendicular to the page, few people do that. So I I'm a little disappointed about that.

I believe in the Psypher enough to purchase a new 3x5 card to put into a note pad, but so far the results are not as stellar as I had hoped. I am still getting better results with my home made gimmick card box with carbon/golf pencil impression, but I want to retire this outdated method. I thought psypher would replace that method and more. I still have faith the the effect will work, but not satisfied when using in a deck.

and oh yeah... Robert Smith is a genius, you get quality material and good information on the dvd, but its not going to work for you without some fine tuning. the concept is amazing and worth the investment if your flexible in how you can use it.

Cheers,
Thibius

All In by Jack Carpenter

Thumbs up! 5 stars : This is a great DVD! : Curt from Scottsdale, AZ : If you are a fan of Jack, buy this without question. If you have never heard of Jack, but like intermediate to advanced card work, buy this without question. The highlights for me are the work on seconds and bottoms. Everything else on this DVD set is just great (I'm a little so-so on the toss palm)and is easily one of my recent favorites!

Multiplying Soap Bubbles by Vernet - Trick

Thumbs down. 2 stars : Poor Stage Prop : Shannon from Guam : Zero instructions came with these. Not for use at all with close up. I came up with a cool routine using "Loops" with bubbles (Finn Jon) and then the "Wonder Bubble" effect which can be used close up. I was hoping these would be an addition to the routine, but they weren't what I was hoping for or expecting.

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Red One-way forcing deck : Anonymous from Houston, TX USA : These types of decks are good for extra cards.
PRESSURE by Daniel Garcia and Dan White

Thumbs up! 4 stars : Pressure - Extremely Visual : RJ from Ontario : I haven't actually purchased this effect yet. It's in my Cart as I'm shopping for other 'balloon' related items. From the Demo of Pressure, due to the very careful editing, I was not able to come close to figuring out how this could be accomplished. They left out certain angles, and, something else, which I won't even mention, as it will give away too much.

We must remember as magicians, we create 'illusions', some big, some small, so what 'illusion' are you trying to create with the cell & balloon.

After watching Mike Ammar's awesome performance on the Late Show twice, I knew how the 'illusion' was created. Not because of a bad performance. Mike Ammar is a Master magician. NO, but I understand balloons. It's SO visual. I LOVE it! I have balloons on order to practice this and will probably still order the DVD, just to support Dan & Dan. I'm a balloon twister of 28 years, so work with balloons everyday. Because of that, I kinda had an idea, but the careful editing prevented me, us, from seeing the 'whole' thing, start to finish.

This is an effect I will definitely be doing when I'm busking from now on. People around me are always either txting or have a cell in their hands.

All I can say is Thank You Dan & Dan for releasing this. I would have never thot of this. Beautiful, visual piece of magic. Add to cart. This is Killer!

Word In A Million by Nicholas Einhorn

Thumbs up! 5 stars : The DVD explains everything : Frank from Fort Wayne, IN USA : Not only was I impressed by this effect, but also by amount of time the author spends with you on the DVD. He not only demonstrates the performance and provides a thorough explanation, but also adds additional tips to help make the performance as smooth as possible.

The gimmick is very simple to use and people at my office were spellbound when I revealed the word.

This one is worth it!
