If you're interested at all in doing mentalism, this book is a must-read. Although it's 40+ years
old, I watched Criss Angel do a routine straight out of this book in his Vegas stage act, which
speaks to the durability of Corinda's ideas.

I have been just started up with mentalism. I never thought that a book would be so informative. It
teaches all the things that you need. If you are interested in mentalism then get this awesome book!

Yes this is the first book to read if you are looking to make the jump from magic to mentalism.
However please keep in mind this book was origionally published in the 1940's so I would say much of
the book is outdated. I've been performing mentalism for 4 years now and I do not use anything I've
learned in this book. Don't expect people to think you're a "gifted telepath" after reading this.
However if you decide to buy it, shell out the extra cash and get the 13 steps dvds to go along with
it. otherwise you're short changing yourself

This book, along with “Practical Mental Magic by Theodore Annemann” are known as the two Bibles of
Mentalism. You will need to read these books more than once. You will have to put real study and
thought into learning mentalism. I strongly recommend the DVD set of 13 Steps also with the book if
you are like me. It helped me see these effects performed, where reading about the effect may not
always give you a perfect picture of the presentation. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone wanting to
learn Mentalism.

This is the essential book to have for anyone interested in Mentalism most of the Successful
mentalists out there have started with this book its the bible of mentalism. though
this book was writen about 50 years ago and is pretty much out dated does not mean with some creativity the effects in this book Can't be up dated that's where the 13steps To mentalism DVD set comes in check that out too and try to get both Did this review help you?
13 steps is without a doubt one of the most essential books to read if you're serious about
mentalism, however I wouldn't recommend this for magicians who are just looking to add a bit of
mentalism to their magic routines. The amount of principles and effects you will learn in this book
are incredible compared to the price you pay. If you're a mentalist and don't have 13 steps, ADD TO
CART!

As with anything you want to do you have to start with a firm foundation. This book will provide you
with the foundation needed to build on and increase your mentalism skills. It's way way underpriced
and would be a steal at $100. Get it!

If you're at all interested in mentalism, you really need this. It provides the foundation for 90%
of what you're doing. It's not as if you'll be getting a series of hot routines out of this... it's
more about the thinking and psychology that goes into the effects you're performing.
Yes, much of this might seem dated now, because so many mentalists have taken the ideas and principles in this book and improved them, modernized them, and made them their own... but it should still be part of your education to see where it all started. I would also recommend Osterlind's excellent DVD series based on this book. It does a great job of bringing the material to life; however, don't make the mistake of thinking the DVDs are an adequate substitute. It'd be impossible to distill this entire book into a set of DVDs. You really do still need the book. Did this review help you?
