Sands of the Desert (aka "Hindu Sands") As popularized by Doug Henning's T.V. specials.
Price: $43.20
Out of stock.

Three dishes are seen to be filled with red, yellow, and green sand, along with a large clear bowl of water. The magician swishes his hand in the water causing it to become dark. The magician then takes a handful of red sand and places it into the darkened water. This is followed by the green and yellow sand. With his hand or a wand he stirs the mixture of sands in the water. He then dries his hand and, showing them empty, reaches into the bowl of water again and brings out a handful of red sand and holds it over a plate and lets it flow freely from his hand...PERFECTLY DRY! This is repeated with the other two colors. The magician swirls his hand in the water again and gradually it becomes clear!

I am not the sort to write bad reviews but I was disappointed with the quality and price.

When you pick up this sand out of the water, there is a lot of residue that remains on your hand - and sticks to it like wet coloured sugar crystals! I have since bought the same type of sand from another source, and it flows much better from the hands.

I got a quote for purchasing the chemicals and it was very expensive. So I do this trick with an opaque bowl instead.

Apart from that, the magic is great! It is a fun illusion to perform and requires good patter. If you are looking for an effect using colours as a focal point, go for it!
