If you could have one set of magic DVDs, this would be it! This benchmark collection features just about all of magic's most enduring and classic effects and routines. It's a fabulous compendium with many of the top masters in the world of magic teaching their handlings and routines for some of magic's classics. Linking rings, sponge balls, metal bending, cups and balls, thumb tips, Zombie, color-changing knives, and many, many more topics are all gathered in this one terrific DVD reference set. Each volume covers a specific subject and features new, old, and sometimes rare footage by some of the top video producers in magic.

In this volume, you'll discover the Linking Rings, one of magic's most enduring classics. For centuries, magicians have charmed, baffled and amused their audiences with the mysterious linking and unlinking of solid metal rings and on this DVD, you'll see some of the most magical routines ever created for this ancient trick from six modern masters, each with their own take on the Rings.

Watch and learn Jeff McBride's amazing 6-ring stage routine, Aldo Colombini's charming interlude with three rings and a length of rope, Dan Harlan's comedic approach complete with audience participation, a classicist interpretation from Al Schneider, and Dan Fleshman's routine with small rings, perfect for close-up work. Finally, you'll see Dai Vernon's classic 6-ring routine, the Symphony of the Rings, performed and taught by the Professor himself, arguably the greatest Linking Ring routine ever created.

I have a few of the "World's Greatest Magic" DVDs and have been happy with all of them. This one is no exception. I liked the number of different moves demonstrated by the various magicians, because they ranged from those that are easy-to-master to professional-level moves that would take quite a lot of practicing to perfect. I agree that the Dai Vernon segment was a little difficult to follow, but it was such a pleasure to watch it was worth including on the DVD. My favorite part, as always, is the Jeff McBride portion. He does an excellent job explaining each move of the routine, and an amazing routine it is. Even if you only take a few ideas away from this DVD, it will improve your Linking Rings routine, guaranteed.

If you do the rings in your show or are thinking about learning the classic this is a good place to start. You will learn technique and have a variety of presentations to formulate your own routine. If you like this DVD you should also look at the Whit Haydn Comedy linking ring routine. Buy both and you are on your way to a classic routine.

Good for ideas but not a great learning experience. Report this review

This DVD has a few nice routines, I found that the explanations presumed that you have some proficiency with linking rings, which I do not (hence I bought a DVD to learn).
I found that the routines seemed good but often the tricky moves were just skimmed over and just had me more confused than anything really.
If you know a few things about the rings and your just after some ideas for some routines then Im sure this will fulfill your needs but as for learning... I feel I'm going to have to purchase another DVD that actually takes the time to teach me how to do the routine and not just show me how it was done.
If your starting from scratch I'd suggest you try another DVD because this one really didn't do it for me.

P.S Dai vernon was one of the masters of magic, his routine is great but trying to learn it off this DVD is impossible, it was a case of "too many cooks spoil the broth", I had no idea what was going on, there is this guy just badgering Dai and interupting, the guy makes him look like a bumbling old man, really confusing to learn.
