HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Into the Abyss is an awesome DVD that I really felt good about purchasing. If you are intrigued and thinking about picking this one up, I'd definitely add this to cart now. The effects are great, and the DVD is just fun to watch as well. Bonus, you get some insider performance advice from Oz just by watching him as he performs these miracles. A couple things to watch out for. These effects, though great, really do depend on your ability to perform them well and SELL them to the audience. In a nutshell, you need to be able to engage the audience, otherwise these effects could end up as yawners in the wrong hands. Also, while all the effects are really good, there was only one in particular that I thought was stellar, and it's the only one I felt I would perform myself. That said, I felt that the DVD was well-worth the purchase and I enjoyed learning the effects. Perhaps the other effects are things I can tweak and can fit into my arsenal later. Add to cart. I like the tricks, but this just isn't for me. The method will require some set up and props and I prefer my mentalism to be as prop free as possible. Oz does an amazing job teaching this very clearly. Overall these effects look like you really can read minds. If you love mentalism than I know you will love this.

It was ok...just ok. I got it mostly to see some performance examples and presentations for the center tear. This DVD doesn't actually teach the center tear, but if you already know a good version, he does have some pretty well thought out presentations for it that may appeal to you. It was nice seeing some actual performances with the center tear. The method feels a little bold at first, so seeing someone pull it off successfully can help give you the confidence to try it yourself.

First off, I want to say that the tricks themselves are really good. However the DVD is not. The menu screens are a mess, and the camera guy should not quit his day job because he obviously has no idea what he is doing.
If you are new to mentalism then expect to have to go buy some more stuff. If you don't know any method of getting info from a spectator then expect to buy even more stuff. For example a method of peeking, impression pad, or info on how to do a good center tear, cause this DVD doesn't provide that info for you. As far as the tricks themselves go they are pretty easy and are very very good. Probably some of the best mentalism effects you are likely to find. I recommend the tricks, just make sure you have an exsisting method of getting info from the people you are doing the trick for. Did this review help you?
These are such great ideas! I use the stapled prediction with so many different prediction effects. I still fool both my magician friends with this prediction! The tape recorder is fantastic! I like to merge the tape recorder and stapled prediction into one effect, most people are so convinced they don't even bother to try how to work it out. I only gave it 4 stars because while Oz is an amazing magician, I thought his mentalism performances seemed too much like magic effects. Other than that it's wonderful! Go buy this!

This is an awesome DVD; the material on here is so strong. I use a variation of Ultimate Vacation all the time and it always KILLS. Ever since I watched this DVD, this has been my "go-to" when someone asks me to do a trick. Although it does take some practice to get the moves down so that everything is smooth, it it well worth it! There are so many different ideas and routines you can do with this. You will not regret buying this DVD!

I'm not a big mentalism magician, but the teaser video got to me. I wasn't disappointed. Oz has a great teaching style and while I haven't mastered all the methods on the DVD, it compelled me to begin adding some mentalism to my routine. This is a great DVD for some simple, yet effective mentalism.

Oz is one of my favorite magicians. He is very creative and his sleight of hand is second to none. I was not disappointed when I got this DVD. There are some great mentalism tricks that will utterly blow people away. I have to admit, though, I haven't performed one of these tricks in the real world since getting the DVD a couple years ago, as some of them require a little bit of set-up that I just haven't gotten around to. If you're into mentalism, then there is a lot of great material here.

Oz explains some great presentations and takes on the classic mentalism gem, the prediction. His routines are all strong, great for walk around and small groups and even small stages. Nothing terribly new in terms of technique, but other than that its a great DVD.
