Hi. This is your official PenguinMagic reviewer, B_Magic.
This is a trick I used to do for years! It really is a good trick, but its one of those that you can either do really good, or really bad, depending on how serious you are about presenting the effect well. This is not a self-worker, but the sleight of hand needed isn't terribly difficult. That is PRECISELY the reason why I've seen this performed so poorly many times. Just because something isn't difficult doesn't mean it isn't difficult to execute well. If you want this effect to be entertaining and fun for your audiences, you are going to need to put some real work into presenting it well. Keep in mind that it is an unnatural object, so magicians performing this start at a disadvantage from the get-go. You have to work to overcome the disadvantage and entertain your audiences early. Overall it's a great effect, but it's not a jaw-dropper by any means. If you work at it, it can be a fun and entertaining effect that you will enjoy doing for quite awhile. The hot rod is probably one of the funnest things for me to perform. I don't however perform this to
amaze the audience, I use it more as a joke. I never of course reveal the secret, but I do like to
have fun with it. The audience generally does accept the trick very well but don't expect any
screams.

This is a classic of magic that every magician should have their hands on. You just can't go wrong
with it! It plays huge with the audiences, and it packs small. Definitely add it to your cart. You
won't regret it!

This is a great trick to have on hand. Easy to cart around. It's very easy to learn and enjoyable
for all ages. I've had no issues with my hot rod and carry it around frequently to baffle people in
lines, at work, and on the street.

This is one of the first tricks I ever learned. It's incredibly simple and gets surprising results.
The only issues are that almost everyone I know has eventually figured it out, although it took some time and some were shown more than once (a beginners mistake) but surprisingly they still enjoy seeing it done. Second are on this one, the gems can pop out if dropped, but is easily fixed back, that could just be mine though. While alot of people may figure this one out, it's still great. For it's price it is excellent, and on an unsuspecting person it can be great. Just don't be shocked if someone figures it out, and if they do just move on to something better, its still entertaining. Did this review help you?

Very nice easy to hold, except if you drop it. Have some super glue ready, because the gems will
fall out. Buy it its worth it.

Once you get the move down, this rod is REALLY a nice thing to carry around. I got the black hot rod
with the colors painted on the rod instead of the jewels you will get if you purchase this rod.
Get this! It's worth the price! Did this review help you?
I'm very supportive of this effect. It is truly amazing to spectators, but... within three days of
opening the package, the jewels started falling out. That's why I don't like it as much. I'm sure
that mine was just a defect, but I would take your precautions.

First off, I like the effect this trick has. It does give the spectator a 'free choice of color' so
to speak. However, I do not recommend you do this trick for adults. The reaction isn't too great,
but it's great with kids.
Also, the rod is clear, not black like in the picture(or brass, like in the learn-it video)...just a little heads up =D Did this review help you?
