I see some good reviews, but this effect is terrible. Penguin has a DVD by Diamond Jim Tyler called "Pockets Full of Miracles". In this DVD, Jim goes through dozens of effects that you can carry around in your pocket. One of those effects is called "Burning Impression". It does what Burn Notice does, only 100% better, and can be done on any paper surface, such as a business card or photo. It also allows you to cause a fine line writing to appear. Due to the method of Burn Notice, what you reveal is difficult to write with a fine line. Jim uses a photo of himself holding a crystal ball and at the end of the effect, a selected card is displayed in the crystal ball and a bit of smoke is coming from the crystal ball. It is fantastic! Get "Pockets Full of Miracles" instead.

This one was a dissapointment. First, I had an idea of what to use when ordering and was hoping that he would have thought through the best ways to do this effect. Instead, the item used to make the apprearances on a receipt does not lend itself to a clean message. I tried different materials and found something else to work much better. It wasn't worth the price. It would have been better if it was a low-cost download and if the tools used to make the message were better researched. I think a person could figure out a better way on their own through trial and error, something that obviously the inventor did not do.

The only reason I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars is because on the DVD he doesn't really do a trick with it. He just tells you how to make the receipt and tells you what is on the receipt in PDF form that you can print out. It's basically purple elephant in denmark and other such classic predicition tricks printed on a receipt. He gives you about 10 or so blank recepits you can use for the trick and they can be gimmicked using something you already have laying around the house. This DOES look as good as it does on the demo. Can be a great way to reveal ANYTHING.

Whenever Chris comes to me with a new idea, or a new product, he always makes sure its the best it can be. This is a great trick, looks cool, and really allows you to have anyword or picture appear on the paper with minimal setup and effort. This is a great principle. If you buy stuff, then you already have reciepts, why not trick them out while your at it.

Effect: Reveal anything on a receipt, simply by touching it to the flame of a lighter. Really any kind of fire source will do. Be careful, kids.

Teaching: Chris is very thorough and clear in describing the Burn Notice principle. He also goes into a few routines using the revelation that teaches some psychological subtleties and methods. Also, he totally has a magic glint in his eyes.

Quality of materials/gimmick: The gimmick is great, easy to produce, and totally an everyday item. You can do this effect everywhere and anywhere.

Difficulty: Well, beginner—kinda. It really depends what you apply this revelation to. Burn Notice is really a principle and revelation to build routine upon, which is only limited by your imagination. If you can operate a lighter you can perform this revelation. However, depending what structure you place around this I guess it could get more difficult. Move Monkeys, I’m looking at you.

Applications: Chris demonstrates a few routines but also states—as I said earlier—that you are only limited by your imagination. You can reveal anything from a chosen card, number, mythical animal, thought of appendage, maybe even the name of an unborn child.

Overall Rating: I really love this revelation and its possibilities. The fact that Chris and Blue Crown didn’t bog this DVD down with 30 routines on the principle was very refreshing. You’ll carry this with you all the time. Do it. Support Chris. And if you’re like me, you’ll be thinking you’re Michael Westen every performance.

Burn notice by Chris Wiehl in my opinion this is the best reveal I have seen in a long time. This principle is extremely creative, and can be used in so many different ways and situations. Please everyone buy this right now because this effect is a must have by all magicians. After watching this method I have this in my wallet at all times! This is an absolute MUST HAVE. Besides for the small preparation, everything else is great!

I give it 4 out if 5 stars! The only issue with this is that some people may not be fond of carrying a lighter, but if that is okay with you this is a MUST HAVE!

I "broke this in" at a kids' party last weekend. The birthday girl was 9 and the parents wanted sophisticated magic, not "cheesy kids' stuff." So I asked if fire effects were okay and the mom said, "Definitely!" So after the girl picked a card and I lit the receipt--her selected card was burned onto the receipt and her JAW DROPPED!!! I gave her the receipt for a souvenir and she stared at it in awe for the rest of the gig! She liked that "giveaway" more than any other giveaway.

Using your imagination you can adapt this for MULTIPLE uses...

I use to do a trick simular to this where the "force symbol/word" appeared on my arm using ash. Kinda messy but worth the reaction, only flaw could not reset as easy. With this method i can carry around multiple peices and always be ready with a new receipt super fast. Great product for those who love big reactions. Thanks Penguin, you guys rock!

This is my new all time favorite. I use it in combination with Branded. The reaction is just so good that I carry a pocket full of receipts everytime I go out. I come home with none left. This one will burn them for sure.

I used burn notice 2 restaurant gigs in a row and this hits lay people harder than anything I did all night. Its SOO easy to do, easy to set up, which leaves you to concentrate on presentation. Fantastic concept. Thanks Chris!
