This deck is beautiful! 5 stars! I love the artwork of the court cards, even the pips look amazing! The backs have a beautiful mysterious look to them. My spectators always ask to see this awesome deck as soon as i pull it out. This is great, because it sets me up for a pretty awesome trick and history lesson about Houdini. I start by showing the Houdini king, and telling them a little history about Houdini. Then i describe his sub trunk trick (metamorphosis.) I tell them he would chain up his wife, Bess, and put her in a box. Then i say that he would stand on the box, pick up a sheet, show it empty on both sides (at witch point, i show my hand empty.) Then i perform a color change turning Houdini into a black queen. I usually finish by opening up the deck half way and doing a slide drop to show that Houdini is inside the deck. This storyline effect works so well because they don't even know you are performing a trick until it's already half way over. This deck provides so many other options for brief history lessons about the vaudeville era of magic as well. Hurry up and buy this deck, you wont regret it!!

Gorgeous cards! Great for display and for thematic card effects. Apply the "Tool" visual transposition effect using the Vaudeville Houdini King and any Queen and you have a close-up Metamorphosis!

It's a nice deck and I love the concept but the art is a little hit-or-miss on some of the cards. I'm also not overly fond of the beige backgrounds. I suspect that the artist wanted to "age" the cards, but the uniformity of color just doesn't look right.

This deck is so nice.....I love the old look of it....love nostalgic stuff.....I use the king and queen of diamonds(the Houdini looking cards) and explain the metamorphosis trick he and his assistant use to do and do a color change from queen to king using the Marlo tilt method.....But when I do it I pull several cards with the heal of my hand and plant the top card several cards down in the deck rather than just switch the 2 top cards......kills!!!! Try it you'll like it.

Do yourself a favor and buy a brick (12 decks). Open one deck for yourself and save the rest to sell on e-bay someday. In twenty years the starting bid for these will be $$$ per deck, easily.
