Bad Quality Report this review

I was very disappointed with quality. The coin did not feel or look like a real coin. You could easily see where the gimmick had been machined. The gimmick did not stick together like it was supposed to and ruins the trick. Don't waste your money on this.

Don't fit right. Easy to see the cut Report this review

The other reviewer got it right. These coins are not well made. The cut is extremely easy to see. I had to push and push them to make them fit and theystill didn't fit right. My wife (who has never seen a scotch and soda trick) figured out the trick right away. Not well made unfortunately.

Nice! Report this review

Wonderful gimmick! This is a really nice variation of Scotch and Soda, using a quarter and penny. It allows you to borrow a quarter and penny and do magic with them and then return them for verification. Obviously, you are using a gimmicked coin. The instruction is pretty good and the possibilities are endless. Nice gimmick!

CAPTAIN AND COKE Report this review

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. My insert fits perfect. you could not ask ofr a better fit.
I also have a magnetic locking one and it is looser and my wife can hear it rattle if I am not very careful ,with it. but I can blow people away with it to I just have to be more carefull. I like them both.

Decent Report this review

It does have discrepancies but it is a decent trick when you turn the penny into a dime. I probably wouldn't spend 35 on this.

Mismade Report this review

I was very excited the first time I tried using the gimmick. However, the second time I realized that the gimmick didn't fit at all. Very disappointing! I am returning this trick

easiest version yet Report this review

There has to be a couple dozen different takes on this basic effect, some better than others. The gaff here is very nicely made, so even a complete klutz like me can do this with just a little practice.

I LOVE THIS TRICK. I showed 10 to 12 people already they love it. Super easy to use. And I am already getting Captain and Coke 2.0 and i think you should too!

Better than i expected Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 18th, 2012
I own multiple variations of scotch and soda and this may be the most innocent looking one yet. A penny is already easy to hide due it's small size, but this gaff does make it possible to cleanly vanish a penny.

Yes, the joint may be a noticeable for those who know where to look, but I just don't let spectators handle the coin too long (if at all). Also, I dropped the gaff once and they penny dislodged upon hitting the floor.

I can't swirl the gaffs in a glass to make them nest like I can with other scotch and soda gaffs, so I use c&c for something else. Instead of a dime, I use this penny to make a coin vanish for Bro Gilbert's Water Trap routine (from TA).

The DVD instuctions are surprising good - clear, concise, and organized.

I don't take advantage of the fact that the quarter is magnetic, but it's a nice feature.

I like that the gaff can snap into the bang ring so it's easier to distinguish from regular quarters, but i also wish that the bang ring itself is a tad taller.

The coin bend routine is a nice application, but people do feel compelled to have the quater bend too - so be ready if they ask. If you are prepared, then you got yourself a decent routine.

Poorly cut coins Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 18th, 2012
I wonder who writes these reviews. Because three out of five say The coins are poorly made. I can't believe David Roth Said these are well-made. The cut is horrible the do not fit flush. Get scotch and soda set or a dime and Penny you're better off

But I will say it is a good idea but poorly cut. Can spotted a mile away
