R. Paul Wilson gives an entire course in the art of Restaurant Magic. More important than the magic on the video is the priceless advice and strategy taught. You will learn how to structure an act so it can be instantly reset, when to shorten the performance, about audience interaction, contingency planning in case something goes wrong, dealing with a restaurant staff, tips, patter, tough audiences, approaching a table and much more.

You will also learn the act he has used to earn a living with and the many ins and outs of performing it. The act consists of five classic routines woven together for optimum impact. It opens with a quick and visual sequence where a small silk handkerchief appears and disappears. From the silk a sponge ball is produced and so begins a direct and entertaining sponge ball routine which ends with the magic happening in the spectator's hands. Another classic of magic begins with an ambitious card routine where a signed card keeps jumping to the top of the deck after being lost in the middle. It perfectly segues into a long card prediction and concludes with the signed selection appearing behind the zippered compartment of your wallet. The finale of the act is a Chop Cup routine where a small red ball appears, vanishes and reappears under a cup. The routine climaxes with the production of two lemons which is a guaranteed applause invoking finale that gets the attention of the rest of the customers in the restaurant who are now anxious to see you perform.

Also included is a bonus routine, "Strange Intruder," where a red back card is placed in a blue deck. A spectator names any of the face up cards in the deck and it is shown to be that red backed card.

This DVD is not full of tricks. In fact it teaches a single routine, none of which are ground breaking. It does however give a solid example of how to properly put a table hopping routine together. With that said, I did not get this DVD to learn new tricks. I got this DVD to get insight on how to perform from a working pro. I've been working professionally for years in restaurants and have found R. Paul Wilsons insight on how to handle an audience worth 10 times the DVD.

Paul wilson is an awesome magician and always puts out quality dvds. This one is no exception. The material is solid and, though there are only 5 routines on this dvd, each is well-thought out. The 5 routines flow together to create a full act. I enjoyed the sponge ball routine and the chop cup routine the most. The most valuable part of the dvd isn't the tricks, however. You will get so much out of listening to Paul's thoughts on restaurant magic and studying why his routine is organized as such, and how it has a flow to it all.

I don't want to say that I didn't like this DVD because paul wilson is a good magician and a good performer. I just wanted to say that this DVD in my opinion is strickly for the beginner. I was expecting more from it when I heard about this DVD. There is a good variety on the DVD, but not enough magic in my opinion. It spends too much time focusing on perfomance tactics rather than packing a lot of magic into one DVD.

If you are just beginning in restaurant magic this video is for you it will show you what you need to know before you go out and try this type of magic. Paul Wilson also teaches you his restaurant routine that he uses. But most important the information that you need to know before you go out and perform.
