A card is selected and returned to the pack which is then shuffled. The magician then feels the backs of the cards one at a time and is able to find the selected card by sensing which card is warmer from the spectators touch! The selected card is then shuffled into the pack again only to jump to the top of the deck. The cards are then cut once placing the selected card in the middle of the pack - but say the magic words and the selected card is on top again!

It's a SVENGALI deck, people! Report this review

Svengali decks are ALWAYS fun; they are one of those "classic" gimmicks that have stood the test of time. As I have said before, things become classics for a reason; crappy tricks don't end up as classics.

The svengali deck is a classic gimmicked deck. These are cheap, easy to use and they do all the work for you. That is a great concept within itself. There are SO many things you can do with a svengali, and there are a TON of resources to learn different tricks.

The only problems a svengali used to have is that they weren't of a good stock. Other svengali decks LOOKED fishy; they didn't look like things people recognized or decks people could relate too. Now that these decks are manufactured by Bicycle (and cheap too!) these are a GREAT buy and really help you do things that couldn't be accomplished as fairly with a normal deck.

Fantastic for beginners OR experts. Pick one up if you don't have one already.

This is a great trick deck and one of my favorites. But, i must advise not to show all the cards the same (unless you plan to do aa deck switch) as the audience will realize that it is a trick deck. Overall though it's a wonderfull little deck.

Kind of Meh about the quality Report this review

I wish I could recall the exact Svengali deck I picked up last time. I ordered these as replacements as my previous decks were getting a bit worn. These just aren't cut very well. The size difference in the cards is so extreme that you can easily see it from the side of the deck. The trimming is all to one edge which makes the back of the cards look quite off instead of taking a little from both.

This is one of the first tricks I had obtained from a pitchman at the County Fair, I was fascinated with what the deck could do. It's as good today as it was then .

Well to start off I know many good card tricks and tricks in general and I get a mixed amount of reactions depending on the person and my performance. This trick has most definitely got more of a reaction from people than any of my other tricks. People cannot explain how you did it and are in Awwwwww after seeing it done. The best part is you can do many other Tricks with this deck to lead up to the ultimate climax. If u are into card tricks and want the craziest reaction from spectators than buy this trick NOW.

my problem with this deck, without spoiling just what a Svengali deck is for the muggles, is that the special cards involved are only modified on one side of the card, and it's obvious to the spectator. i mean, just to look at, it is obvious, never mind letting an audience member hold one of the cards. the deck may work fine in parlour routines, but i would not recommend for close-up work. there are probably better Svengali decks out there, where the modification is made on both sides of the card, making it much less obvious what is going on. shame, really, as the cards themselves are fine, as is the price.

Poor Svengali Report this review

Rarely write a bad review fro Penguin, but this deck is cut so badly it is unusable. Bought for Symmetry and Parity Book. It is glaringly apparent that half the deck is cut short, and looking at a short card it is clear it's cut on one end it's cut so short. I have had Svengali decks in the past and they are cut fine.I am returning the deck with the assumption this was just a bad deck. If all the decks are like this I urge Penguin to find a new manufacturer.

The short cards are too short Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 15th, 2022
The short cards in the Svengali deck I ordered are too short, over 3mm shorter than the normal cards. This is one of the worst purchase experience as the deck is not performance ready.

Svengali's are the best. Trick decks should never be an alternative to practicing skill, but when properly used they can slay audiences. Svengali decks are no exception. With the proper care and handling, svengali decks will drop the jaws of even those laymen who think they 'know' how it's done. This deck is of the same high-quality bicycle stock as normal cards. With they bicycle brand back you have the added bonus of the cards being familiar to your audience. All the easier to switch it out for a normal deck for those grabby specators
